Help with my lab results

Hello everyone!

I had a baby nine months ago, they lowered my dose after delivery, from 87,50 to 62’50, now three months later, I had my lab test done, and It seems I am having an antibodies attack. I have so much pain in my throat I can barely eat. The worst thing is I am pshicological almost dead, My character is so drepessive at the moment.

My ferritin is low, my b12 is low too.

The doctor up my dose to 75 mcg now, and they will test me again in six months🤦‍♀️

She said That probably I am having post partum depression and tomorrow I am having my first appointment with the psychiatrist.

A few years ago I tried T3 only and honestly it was not too bad..but I finally get pregnant and I came back to T4 only treatment.

I am thinking if maybe it will be a good idea to add 5 mcg to my current dose and see if I will feel better or wait with this t4 only treatment and see if I will get better???

Sorry for my english but I am from spain, here it is very difficult to find a doctor who treats you about your symptoms.

I am feeling like I am loosing myself and the hability to control my entire day by day, and for my child I dont want to be like I am now he will not deserve it, sorry

Hi Cavalli, sorry to hear you're having such a tough time.

I don't understand all your results but I noticed your ferritin is low - apparently it needs to be 70 or above for the body to be able to convert T4 to T3. Has your doctor given you anything to raise your iron?

I've also read that a strict gluten free diet can help if you have thyroid antibodies.

I would be tempted to try adding some T3 if I were you, especially as you've been on it before.

Do post again - it's easy for posts to get missed and remain unanswered, but it doesn't mean nooone wants to help!

Let us know how you get on and I really hope things improve for you soon. Hang in there xx

Many thanks for your reply! I really thought I will have more support here as usually but it seems that there are other posts more important.

Yes my doctor prescribed me iron, and I will buy b12 solgar sublingual vitamin with a b complex.

In reference the t3 I really would like to it, but I dont know how to dosage it right,I should take 75 mcg of t4 now,,

Many thanks. For your reply

Really thanks for the support

Hi again :) I think sometimes the occasional post does just get overlooked. It's not a case of your post being less important :)

From memory, I think T3 is 3-5 times stronger than T4 (different people agree different amounts), so maybe if you want to try 5mcg of T3, reduce your T4 by 25mcg? I'm going to tag a couple of people who know more about this than I do, in case they have anything to add - SeasideSusie greygoose .

Good luck :)

Many thanks again!

I think I will stay on T4 only, start supplements and gluten free diet, then retest in 6 weeks and see how its going, I will post again in a couple months and probably I will reconsider to take the T3 too.

Thanks again

Hi Cavalli13, it's impossible to say if you need to take T3 or not without an FT3 test. Your TSH is very high for someone on thyroid hormone replacement, but your FT4 is low, so it's possible you just need an increase in levo. Personally, I wouldn't consider T3 until you've brought down your TSH to one or under, so that we get a clearer picture of your conversion. But, then, you will need to get your FT3 tested.

As ShinyB says, your ferritin is very low. You really need to do something about that before you consider anything else. Do people eat liver in Spain? Eating that once a week would be a good idea to bring your ferritin up.

Your B12 and folate are also too low, so they also need supplementing.

And, you have high antibodies. Have you tried a gluten-free diet, to bring them down? You could also try taking selenium. :)

Hi greygoose!

Many thanks for your reply. Liver is not a good idea for me :)

I really hate it! :)

Yes, I know that I should try to eat gluten free again, I tried las time before my pregnancy, and during my pregnancy I have been eating normal, it was too hard for me to eat gluten free.

I will buy Floradix liquid and B12 Solgar methyl sublingual, but I am thinking if is ok to take the floradix along with the b12 or should I have to take a b complex too?

I have been checking de b thorne but I see that there is to much niacin on it, and last time I really had a bad time with this, I had a hot flash while I was driving and this really scared me.

So is there other b complex that maybe you guys can recommend me?

Many thanks again!
