TSH is up and down!

Hi all, I was finally started on medication last November after having a raised TSH of 7 for a while and low T3 and T4. Started on 50mcg

TSH retested in January and it was 4.9 (0.2 - 4.2) T4 16.9 (11-25) so upped to 75mcg

In March TSH was 0.01 (0.2-4.2) T4 20.9 (11-25) and T3 of 6 (3.1-6.8) GP wanted to lower me to 50mcg again, I said no as I still felt unwell and my T3 and T4 were perfect. So compromised on 50mcg and 75mcg alternating and also went gluten free and starting the adrenal plan by izabella wentz as I have a feeling this is autoimmune although my first TPO test was 30.

I feel about 70% at the moment. Now I have just rang and my results from Monday are

TSH 12.15 (0.2-4.2)

T4 12.8 (11-25)

still awaiting T3 and antibodies.

I'm so confused and not sure what the GP will do now as they aren't the best! Advice????

As your metabolism has improved and gut repairing after going gluten free you are ready for next dose increase

GP should increase Levo dose by 25mcg and retest in 6-8 weeks

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. Have these been tested? What supplements, if any are you taking

GP rang me and has asked me to start on alternative 75/100mcg. I’ve had all those testing, ferritin was very low initially so had 2 months of ferrous fumerate. I take lots 🙈 selenium, maca, vitamin D, vitamin B’s, evening primrose oil, iron, turmeric. Not all daily, but have atleast 4 a week of most.

Thankyou for your reply, just a bit confused by all this up and down business! My TSH was only 7 on diagnosis so 12 is the highest it’s been so far so a bit thrown!

If you have high thyroid antibodies (Hashimoto's) then levels going up and down is pretty normal
