Increased levothyroxine dosage causing problems...?

Hi everyone.

I posted a few days ago about dizziness and nausea and fatigue. Well I increased my levothyroxine to 125mcg (from 100mcg) because my TSH was 3.90 (0.50 - 5.00) - my Drs will not test T3.

The first two days of the increase I had no issues. And that, alongside beginning iron tablets (on Drs request because my ferratin was only 21), vitamin b12, vitamin d3 & vitamin b1 thiamin - I actually started to feel better! The dizziness and nausea was at an all time low.

But today I've woken up and my heart rate is at 96bpm resting, I feel lightheaded and hot and very tired and slightly out of breath. Could this be too much thyroid hormone from the Levo increase?? Or would I have felt that straight away?

Should I wait for the adjustment period? Just scared I've got into hyper or I will damage my body from too much levo.

I do have a bug right now, my glands are swollen, blocked nose and a cough. So feeling very dreadful. Would this cause an increase in my heart rate and breathlessness? Really annoying because I was starting to feel better again.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If your TSH was 3.9 when you increased, it's hardly likely that you're now taking too much. Besides, you haven't been on the increased dose long enough for it to do anything.

And, even if your FT3 were slightly over-range - and I'm willing to bet it's really not! - it wouldn't damage your body. 125 is still only a smallish dose.

However, it's really not a good idea to increase your dose and start taking all those supplements at the same time. Because you will have no idea what's doing what. Changes in anything should be made at about two weekly intervals, to give your body time to adapt. :)

Thanks for the info!

Well I was already taking d3, but yeah, iron and b vitamins are new.

I guess it could be this cold/flu virus that's causing the fatigue and high heart rate...!
