Strange Night Nausea, Constipation & diarrhoea after scary movies - Help please

Okay, so I have this strange thing that has been going on for a long time.

It started when I was little and used to happen often, now it occurs rarely but still is really painful and traumatic.

So whenever I watch any movie, read a book or experience something “scary” this is what happens. I’ll give an example.

Last night I went to see the new Avengers movie. I wasn’t scared during the movie, I enjoyed it a lot. I got home and went to sleep. Woke up an hour later with this awful feeling. It’s like my breathing is strange, extremely nausea, and a mix of diarrhoea

and constipation. I feel just dreadful and my mind goes off and has “scary” thoughts. I tried to watch fun youtube videos but pain is over powering and constantly rushing from cramped up in bed from the nausea to sitting on the toilet. I get so exhausted but too scared and not able to shut my eyes. I have that feeling that I’m going to vomit constantly and can’t. I tried taking panadol, took me 4 tries and most came back up (but never rally went down so not a vomit). Then afterwards i did manage to vomit and felt a little better. Then went rotten again and wasn’t until I had this anti-nausea wafer thing for chemo patients that I felt better and could sleep (but still woke up feeling terrible) and has taken few hours to get back to normal with queazy stomach.

My mum goes to Chinese Acupuncture and she seems to thing that it’s my nervous system interacting with my physical system?? Not sure.

Any ideas? It’s so horrible and there’s nothing I can do. Please advise.

(note: this isn’t specifically thyroid but I don’t know where to post I have Hashimoto’s - my levels are all amazing at the moment and these have been constant no matter what my levels are it’s only they are rarer now)

To novice me it sounds like scary movies etc. triggers a delayed stress reaction or a post traumatic stress type disorder. If you think that may be the case Therapists usually work with that. Perhaps a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist(?). But before embarking on therapy for anything along this line a current medical history & physical is desirable.

Do you eat anything while you are at the movies or before any of these episodes?

Hello.

Thank you. :)

I ate some organic popcorn and a drink but that's not always constant when it happens and sometimes I eat it normally and it doesn't happen.

Have you had your adrenals checked? It might be a good idea.
