Hi everyone I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 2011 and I have not had a clue what to do about my dose of Levo or levo/T3. I had been given levo in 2013 and I had T3 added to my Levo in 2015 which I felt better on. I had this removed in 2017.
TSH was not high enough in 2011 for me to be prescribed levo. I went back and forth to the doctor with symptoms before being given levo in 2013 with a TSH above 20.
T3 added because I do not convert T4 to T3.
I take 50mcg Levo but since taking this I have been feeling brain dead
I also supplement D3
So my symptoms are blurred vision, thinning hair, tiredness, headaches, heavy periods, feeling cold, muscle pain and stiffness, dry skin, gaining weight. The way I feel is making me want to resort to taking T3 again but after my endocrinologist said it was doing me no good and there was no clinical benefit of being on it (even though I felt completely well) I just don't know anymore!
Please advise thank you
Nov 2017 (50mcg Levo)
TSH 5.1 (0.2 - 4.2)
FT4 14.7 (12 - 22)

Result prompting T3 prescription
Aug 2015 (175mcg levo)

FT4 19.3 (12 - 22)
FT3 4.0 (3.1 - 6.8)

Far too low a dose. 50mcg is a starting dose which should be increased every six week until your TSH is 1 or lower and I bet your doctor is someone who thinks a TSH in range is fine (which would be around 5). They are so poorly trained which results in unwell patients who have to search the internet (if they are able to) as they may not have a connection.
CFS and Fibromyaligia were only named about ten years after the introduction of blood tests along with levothyroxine, so I have read. These are also symptoms and I think you may have a few more. We have to read and ask questions if we want to have a life.
Your thyroid is definitely the issue. You’ve got positive antibodies for Hashimoto’s Disease (autoimmune thyroiditis). And you need a dose increase. 50mcg levothyroxine is not enough. There’s a good chance your vitamin and mineral levels (in particular, Vit B12, folate, Vit D and ferritin) are too low as well - all need testing.
