High antibodies/postpartum thyroiditis

Hi folks

I have been on here a few times with issues pertaining to a crazy thyroid swinging back and forth postpartum. Things seem to be under control now. TSH is moving closer to 1.0 and T3 isn't too low I think.

But the questions I have are

1) how can I stop this painful, swollen feeling in my throat/neck? I havent had a thyroid scan, though my endo has done a physical exam feeling around the gland

2) does postpartum thyroiditis just go away? Is there any research to give me any indications of time frames or anything different I should do. I avoid fluoride as much as I can (in Ireland they still fluoridate the water), i am mostly gluten free, avoid soya too. So hoping there is something else I can do?

3) my antibodies are high at 958. They have been around a 1000 since my son was born 9 months ago. Do i just need to lump it with these numbers? It means that the thyroid is under attack..surely there is something I can do to try to lower the antibodies?

Thanks

TSH 1.8

Free T4 19.7

3.6 is drastically low, and you aren't converting well at all.

But, if you have high antibodies, it's not Post Partum Thyroiditis, it's Hashi's - Hashimoto's Thyroiditis aka Autoimmune Thyroiditis - and it doesn't go away.

What can you do about the antibodies? Well, you have to be 100% gluten-free, no half-measures, it's all or nothing. You can try taking selenium to bring your antibodies down - it will also help with conversion. And you need to get that T3 up - which will probably mean sourcing and taking T3 with a reduced dose of levo - and your TSH down to about zero.

You need to get your nutrients tested : vit D, vit B12, folate, ferritin. These all need to be optimal - not just in-range - for your body to be able to use thyroid hormone. :)
