I'm thinking of having this test done. I'd love to hear views especially from anyone who has experience or knowledge
Has anyone had their Microbiome tested? - Thyroid UK
Has anyone had their Microbiome tested?
I took part in the American gut project 2-3 years ago, the UK offshoot is in a London teaching hospital, can't remember which. I did get lets of info but it needs interpreting and haven't yet had opportunity or brains (foggy) to do so. Michael Moseley the TV doctor has done some work with Tim Spector who heads up the UK part. It is very interesting and needless to say showed I had a quite different biome to the average. I have Hashis and I am gluten, egg, soya, chicken and lactose free.
Also Ranjan Chatterjee (TV doc series) achieved an amazing turn around in a teenage boy's health by adjusting his diet after consulting with Spector.
I also paid for a DNA test with Blue Horizon which did indicate I would have problems with gluten and lactose and would probably suffer from low B12 and Low D. All correct. Also advised strongly against high intensity exercise. Funnily enough I have always hated exercise per se. Just make sure I walk 10,000 steps per day if possible.
If you have Hashimoto's then gut is likely affected.
As crimple says, both Michael Moseley book Clever Guts and Rangan Chatergee book Four pillar plan have advice on how to improve gut
Where would you have such a test done?
