Anyone had thoracic outlet syndrome with their hypothyroidism?

I know this is a long shot - as well as trying very hard to get someone to listen about thyroid issues I have had long running joint/muscle problems - now have a swollen upper arm (seeing joint specialist GP on Tuesday) - I'm pretty sure that it is thoracic outlet syndrome - had a long stint of physio last year - and I have kept up the exercises I was told to do - but over the last 2-3 weeks my shoulder has been giving me a lot of pain. On reading it can be linked to hypothyroid - and in fact I think can aggrevate it. Just wondering what has happened with other people with this. Weirdest symptom is waking up with just last two fingers dead in the middle of the night when I sleep on the affected shoulder. I can't raise my hand or reach behind myself - makes dressing very interesting!

Fingers likely due to carpel tunnel......Carpel tunnel is very common hypothyroid symptom

Tinnitus linked to low B12, also extremely common when hypothyroid

Previous posts, you were getting fULL Thyroid and vitamin testing

Yes joint, muscle and tendon problems are all thyroid related. I take a mix of Levo and NDT to deal with it. Dont know about the swelling thing. Levo gives me a head ache if I take enough to get a reasonable TSH and not taking enough makes me fat. NDT gives me cold feet and clicking cracking tendons and joints. If I take 50mcg Levo / day and 30-60mg NDT I'm mostly ok. But it's very easy to go hyper and get thumping heart when trying to sleep.

Not on any meds yet - si that doesn't help right now.

@ meggiemog. You thyroid gland makes T3 and T4 thyroid for you. So you sort of are on meds. If your thyroid gland is not making enough one of the symptoms is joint/muscle problems

Swelling could be a blocked lymph node but unless you have had ones removed I don't know whether a blockage would be enough to make a physical difference.

Must admit lymph node swelling has crossed my mind - it looks a bit like that at the moment. I don't think that is what it is though - I can't feel any lumps. Just swollen and sore.

Pinch nerve in shoulder, my poor husband could not lift his arm to dress but after physical therapy (She made him cry) she kept pulling on it and since been fine.

I had a TENS machine when doing physio - it didn't work for me. I ended up with more pain. Tried acupuncture- but that gave me the worst bad head ever! I will hopefully have a better idea after seeing GP today. My shoulder is swollen from the shoulder blade to the elbow and is hell to lie on. It's waking me and I already am struggling with daytime tiredness.

So back from GP with one sore shoulder - she gave me a jab of steroids - said see how that goes - not a lymph node problem (thank goodness!). She says I should feel tons better by the weekend. No heavy lifting ( Ha! means hubby is going shopping with me). If this doesn't sort the swelling - I can go back in 3 months time. Here's hoping!

Really hopes it works for you and well done to your husband for helping with the shopping!
