Hello Ossuryak,

I've lived with these type of symptoms all my life, before being diagnosed with Graves, so maybe it's lingering Graves for you too ?

If these are new symptoms to you maybe you need to look at your thyroid hormone replacement and read some people take a little more medication in the winter months ?

Aching limbs are hypo symptoms so maybe trying a little extra might do the trick ?

I blame everything on the RAI treatment as there are T3 receptors throughout the whole body and RAI is known to cause symptoms similar to fibromyalgia.

Have had RAI in 2012 , don't know if you can get thyroiditis after RAI

No, I don't know either - what I do know is that it took about 8 years for my thyroid to burn out and that was when a whole lot more symptoms appeared and were the consequences of drinking the RAI.

What simptoms did or do you experience now

There are detail on my profile page I don't wish to go back there :

I'm almost back to " normal " for me though it's been a horrible last 5 years or so :

No doubt by age 73 there is some wear and tear but the Graves / RAI side effects were something else.

You can read further on the subject on the Elaine Moore Graves Disease Foundation website - Elaine has Graves and had RAI and she found no help with her continued symptoms and being a medical technologist decided to research Graves herself.

She initially wrote a book to help others who might be in a similar situation to herself and that is where I started my learning of Graves.

Elaine now runs the most respected and well researched website of all things Graves and there's an open forum much like this amazing website where you can ask questions of the community and to Elaine personally.

My recovery has only happened because I've chosen to leave mainstream medical treatment and buy my own full thyroid hormone replacement and manage and dose myself to be as well as I can and not to some blood test numbers that have no bearing on people who have been treated with RAI and who have Graves Disease.

I am using Natural Desiccated Thyroid that was used successfully for over 100 years prior to the advent of Big Pharma and medicine becoming a business in the 1960s.

Since NDT has a successful ' track record ' it is called a ' " grand father " medicine and can't be patented and so the large multi national drug companies do not have the monopoly they might like, on treating thyroid health issues.

However NDT is still widely used in many parts of the world and is medically recognised as the first option to treat hypothyroidism rather than the synthetic options offered in the western world.

It's made from pig's thyroid which are dried and ground down into tablets, referred to as grains, which contains all the same known hormones as our thyroids supported us with, namely T1,T2,T3,T4, and calcitonin.

Some doctors do still prescribe NDT but it costs a lot more money to prescribe and I guess it all depends on how and what your medical insurance " covers " .

Since you too haven't a fully functioning working thyroid you might find that you need a T3/T4 combo - and the synthetic T3 hormone might be more easily available for you.

I trialled a T3/T4 combo and it worked for me, but I prefer NDT - I wasn't able to access either of these treatment options through the NHS in the uk - but you might be more fortunate.

Hi, I have tried T3 T4 combo a long time ago and NTD for a few years after that but felt very unwell at times , quite often really unwell , I got my NDT from a compounding pharmacy in South Australia ( quite reputable) but they could not guarantee the exact same mcg in each batch as their overseas supplier has TOO much leeway in their mcg's supply so went back on Levothoroxin. I was really asking you who you get your NDT from as you seem happy with your supplier and may be I could try your supplier if they ship to Australia.

I do not know if you are allowed to import NDT - I buy from Thailand but currently there appears to be a shortage of the raw product and with reduced air freight carriers everything is looking a bit difficult.

There is a new NDT recently launched onto the market but I don't think it has any feedback comments yet as it is so new.

People are talking about on here, on other posts.
