Has anyone with Hashimotos who has had both jabs been tested for covid-19 antibodies?

I have read a few anecdotal reports from people with other autoimmune disorders who have been tested for covid antibodies but haven't developed any following two jabs. It would be interesting to understand efficacy in those with hashimotos in particular, and which jabs they had.

Interesting question.

Monitor My Health offer private testing for this. I don't know though, whether the TUK discount code is valid for this test ( THYROIDUK10 )

I've had both injections of AstraZeneca, and I am just about to have an antibody test. But I don't have Hashimoto's!

(This is part of research so I'll not know for a while - and it isn't costing me money out of my pocket!)

That's interesting helvella do let us know when you have the result.

How long after your second jab to the antibody test?

A few weeks!

And the result could be a long time a-coming.

This is news to me. How long after the second jab did these people have the test?

I’m sure I can add this test to my next bloods following on from my second jab to see if there’s any truth to it.

It would be frightening if there’s a massive bunch of people out there who think they are protected but are not!

Adding an antibody test isn't cheap.

Also, antibody levels are not the only factor. There has been much discussion about precisely what antibody levels mean. What we need, as I understand, is the ability to launch huge numbers of antibodies again, if Covid-19 is detected. Rather than to maintain a modest level over a long time.

I'm doing a test Monday. Kit just arrived. I'm testing for vaccine induced antibodies. This will show if the vaccination worked for me. I'm doing it out of interest mainly. It cost £59. But I'm also doing it so that I can help Mum do it. She takes a drug that has impaired her immune system and I want to know if she has developed the antibodies she needs from the vaccine as a host of friends are pushing her to let them visit and she doesn't want then too. So mine is out of interest and hers is necessity because if hers is negative she can bolt the door and keep them out.

And how long are you waiting since your second jab to carry out this test?

Please let us know what your results show when your results come back. This is very interesting.

Wired123 I'm not sure how long afterwards the antibody tests were done but it's an important point. And I agree, its frightening. With no real attention on people with autoimmune diseases I'm not surprised the efficacy point is generally uknown right now.

I’ll discuss with my Endo next week and see what she has to say.

I had an antibody test some time after my first AZ jab and it was negative, same for my husband (who doesn't have thyroid issues) I have just done a second Covid AB test, blood spots on a card and shall await with interest the outcome. My tests were part of Covid 19 research through Prof Tim Spector at Imperial College. I have an app on my phone where I report my health each day and it also shows dates of Covid jabs and Covid tests.

I had a blood test for thyroid 2 weeks after the first vax, which happened to include a general blood work up. It showed I was "fighting an infection". They did not ask about the vax and did not put 2+2 together. They decided I needed a further blood test which was lucky as they had only done the TSH in the first test and I was able to add T4 and T3 to be tested to the second test by writing "takes NDT" all over the form. Second test showed blood returning to normal.

I was really ill after the second vax - I now think I have enough antibodies to supply the whole village, but it would be interesting to find out if this is true.

I am part of a monthly antibody testing programme and have had three tests so far. I have had both jabs and had antibodies after the first jab and have had them at each test since, including after the second jab

I’ve had both jabs, AZ, and two antibody tests after each vaccination courtesy of Biobank and the NHS. Both negative! I don’t have hashimotos, had thyroidectomy.

I had antibody tests through research, after my first AZ jab, i have antibodies

I have hashimotos and had a private covid antibody test 3 weeks after second jab of AZ. Then a second antibody test 4 months after second jab. My antibody level dropped 30% between first and second test. Just had booster of Pfizer. So far I feel a whole lot better than I did after AZ jabs, don’t know if that means I’m making antibodies or not.
