Does T3 make your appetite increase? I’ve been taking it for a week and seem to be starving!

Yes until it’s stable and dose correct.

Thanks. How long does it usually take to stabilise?

As long as a piece of string ... sorry I can’t be more helpful. But you shouldn’t be feeling very poorly for long.

Hi, yes but don't worry it is a sign of a healthy metabolism! I was so ill and had daily nausea and a very tiny appetite, no one could understand that with eating a very healthy diet and in really small amounts that I could become very obese! After starting T3 my appetite increased and my many symptoms fell away as did the 6stone I had gained! So if you're worried about gaining weight it's unlikely unless you're already under weight then you'll most likely gain new muscle not fat.

I am not underweight but not overweight either. I’ve always eaten a lot ( but can’t freely live on cakes sadly). I can’t put on weight as I’m a bridesmaid soon and the final fitting has occurred!

Hi, well do all of your measurements around bust, under bust, waist, hips, tops of arms if you dont change in measurement it's fine, as weight can fluctuate quite a lot when fat and water weight are replaced by muscle as muscle weighs more but if you are the right weight for your height I doubt much will change. Do you eat enough fat and quality protein as this can reduce the amount of food you consume too, when I was a low fat vegetarian I literally had to eat all the time and upon eating a paleo ish diet I ate considerable less total mass!

Yes, I agree with the above responses. Eat plenty of good (and I can’t express that enough) quality protein, balanced with good fats and limit some carbs (but they are required for energy). I would suggest if you are hungry, eat. Just make sure its healthy and you feel good. Changing thyroid hormones changes a huge part of your entire body, not just metabolism. Good luck!

I do eat good fats, I’ve never done low fat. I also make sure I have protein with most meals.

For example today I had scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast, a banana mid am, homemade lentil and chorizo soup with croutons ( thanks Mum lol), Apple and Greek yoghurt for a snack. Then for tea I had chicken with avocado, sweetcorn, brown rice with quinoa and seeds.

I have a horrendous sweet tooth though 😭🤦🏻‍♀️ and fell like a starving hyena on the Chelsea bun my colleague bought me earlier.

I also need to focus on smaller portions of healthier carbs I think.
