Just heading out to see my Endo. Saw gp yday and he says nothing helps antibodies but i didnt argue. (ive started a gluten free diet as from yday) Who, if anybody, specialises in auto immune/antibodies? Is it endo, dietician or who??

I’ve halved my TPO by gluten free and lowish carb . We’re just over 300 now less than 150 .

Can’t really say I’ve noticed a difference 🤨

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease way back in 2012. My anti Thyroid peroxidase was 167 (0-100) back then.

I then discovered Blue Horizons mainly because I wanted to know what my T3 was - I was never tested on the NHS - T3 requested by my consultant, tested by the labs - nope!

So I added antibodies into my BH tests and in June 2015 after I had been totally gluten free for a few months my Antithyroglobulin was 401.0 (0-115) and my AntiThyriodperixidase was 31.3 (0-34)

When I last tested in January 2018 my Anti Thyroglobulin was 27.1 (0-115) and AntiThyroidperoxidase was <9 (0-34)

I haven’t done anything other than go totally gluten free having read about people who had Hashimoto’s having had good results with going GF and I’m absolutely convinced that is what has caused the reduction. I’m not sure I feel much different. I think my IBS has improved and I’ve got inflammatory arthritis and I’m taking a bare minimum of hydroxychloroquine for that.

It’s not that difficult or even expensive if you cook yourself and more and more stores seem to be cutting out gluten in their products. I would recommend joining Coeliac UK though to get their handbook of gluten free products and ingredients as we.. as access to their excellent website.

Hi Nutcase 😆 im just back from endo appointment and my anti bodies are reduced a bit from last year. I told her i was going gluten free and she said its worth trying it. Shes done one more blood test to check my steroid hormone?? Apart from that shes discharging me. Ive joined Coeliac uk and my handbook has arrived this morning so i guess its a matter of time tp see how i get on with this diet. So many pisitive results from people so fingers crossed it helps me x

That’s great news. Mine just reduced steadily over the time I’ve been doing it. I started as a three month trial and if nothing happened then I was intending giving up but once I saw them drop nothing on earth would make me go back to gluten. So we’ll done and good luck.

Tell him that keeping your TSH suppressed helps antibodies, because the less thyroid activity there is, the less antibody activity there is.

Have you also tried taking selenium?

Hey Greygoose, selenium tabs arrived last week but not taken them yet because I’ve been staying at mums. I’ll start them on Sat x

Probably no one in the NHS. Try a naturopath.
