You cannot diagnose Hashi's by symptoms. He probably just thought that, as you're hypo, it was a safe bet.

Unless, of course, you've had blood tests to show that you swing from hypo to 'hyper' levels, and back again.

Thank you for reply. I called surgery today to get my results assuming it wouldn't take more that 5 days but apparently it's going to take 6 weeks! Is this normal for this test?

Kind regards.

Look for the Pathology Handbook for your local hospital's lab using a search engine. If you find it, check what that says. Turnaround time is usually identified in there - somewhere. :-)

Anything we say would just be a guess - albeit possibly based on our own local lab or experience.

When I was first diagnosed with Graves. I had my blood tested on a Wednesday and the doctor rang on the Friday morning to say I was hyper with antibodies. I had a routine blood test - thyroid and a couple of other things - done on Monday and was told the results would be back in a couple of days which surprised me because I always thought they dragged it out for a week.

So six weeks seems a bit of a long time - depends on what all they are testing for though I suppose.

Anything over the stated range means autoimmune thyroid disease aka hashimotos
