Tingling sensations

At first I thought it was my imagination... I have a "mild" tingling sensation which is more evident when I'm resting with some background "noise" from my pulse. I am planning to visit my doctor but I have never found them too helpful with some of my "symptoms" of Hypothyroidism! I never manage to get them to test routinely for anything other that T4 on the thyroid panel....however I was feeling really low so my last bloods included folate, B12 and Vit D. Vit D was low so I was told to supplement myself. The rest were apparently ok. Sorry to waffle but does anyone have any clue as to why or what this could be?

What were the results of all those vitamin tests? Tingling can be low B12.

How much Vit D are you taking?

Are you taking D3's important cofactors magnesium and Vit K2-mk7?

Did you also have Ferritin tested?

What were your thyroid test results?

Please include reference ranges for test results.

How much Levo are you taking?

Vit D was low and I'm taking 12.5ug a day. Vit B was apparently ok. I'm not currently taking any other vitamins. The doctor does not routinely give me my results but I expect I can have them if I requested. I take 100mg of Levo and have been on the same dose for over 12 years. I believe my iron and folates were also tested and found to be at ok levels.

Please find out your results. Doctors wont offer them. You need to ask at your surgery reception for a print out. Don't accept hand written or verbal results, you need a print out with the result and the reference range (often in brackets).

If your vitamin D is low then 12.5mcg (which is 500iu) isn't going to help, it wouldn't help a sunburnt flea.

Your dose of Levo may be right for you, but we would need to see your test results.

I will make it a priority to find out more about my results. I have always felt quite well on my dose of Levo, aside from some of the "normal" niggles like intermittent tiredness and lethargy! I know I could double the dose of Vitamin D but thought it best not to over supplement.

If you don't take enough then your low level wont rise. If you post your level then I will suggest a dose that is appropriate to achieve the level recommended by the Vit D Council (which is 100-150nmol/L). And the cofactors are extremely important

Where do you feel this tingling sensation? Some of the lesser known symptoms of hypothyroidism are carpal tunnel syndrome and tinnitus, both of which I developed after 10 days of taking synthetic thyroxine. Unfortunately the symptoms still persist. I wish you better luck.

Tingling in the hands face lips can be a sign of low calcium

Yes I was just thinking I should get that checked thanks, but the carpal tunnel syndrome is exclusive to the hands/wrists not the lips for which I wear splints which help me sleep.

The tingling is mainly across the trunk of my body and is more evident when I'm resting at night. I have carpal tunnel problems in my wrists so I know that is why my fingers tingle sometimes.... I am going to go back to my doctor but I though I would ask before and see if or what any others may have experienced. I have been hypothyroid for nearly 15 years now and have always taken Levo.

Sorry to hear that, but I've never experienced tingling in the torso. I may well be wrong but isn't that a symptom of shingles? Hope not.

Lol. Shingles is much more painful than this sensation.... I've had it!
