When to take NDT

Hi. I'm currently taking split doses of NDT. 2 grains in the morning & 1½ in the afternoon. I've followed advise on this, but find it very difficult to manage the afternoon dose, as my lunch times vary from day to day, due to my work. Does anyone take all the NDT in the morning, and if so does it still work ok, taking a single dose? (I'm on Thiroyd).

I take mine all in one go in the morning and it's no different to when I used to split my doses, just far more convenient!

Thank you. I'll give it a go. You're right. It will be far easier to manage.

Try it, it shouldn't make any difference whatsoever x

I cant take mine all in one dose but split it in two. I need a bit of the t3 to be delayed until lunch time otherwise I get an afternoon slump. I take mine sublingually am not specifically rigid about timings, though I do alarm my mob to remind me. It means I cant easily avoid the fasting for the lunch time dose but amazingly seems to make little difference.....maybe cos I do it sublingually?

Everyones different so its a case of finding what suits you. No right and wrong way.

Hi. What's sublingually?

Sublingually is when you put it under your tongue. Lots of thyroid meds wont dissolve this way but mine does. Theory is that this way it goes straight into your blood stream rather then via your tummy.

That's interesting. What do you take?

I take a natural dessicated thyroid extract called NP Thyroid

From what I can gather you can't physically absorb it sublingually, just as effective to swallow it x

I started taking mine all in one go in the morning, two weeks ago and I feel better for it.
