so Now I’ve been told to come off all medication and have another blood test in 3 week. Has anyone had the same and found it’s come back normal? Also does anyone know how long it takes for 15mg carbimazole to leave the system ?

Have you got results for your tests, the original ones when diagnosed and the new ones? Can you post them, with their reference ranges.

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested? Post those too if you have them.

If you are in the UK and your tests were done by your GP surgery, ask at reception for a print out. We are legally entitled to our results under the Data Protection Act. Don't accept verbal or hand written results, make sure you get a print out and make sure the reference ranges are there too. They should look something like

TSH: 2.5 (0.2-4.2)

There should also be FT4 and if thyroid antibodies were done it will say Thyroid Peroxidase and possibly Thyroglobulin as well.

It doesn't matter that you don't understand them, we can interpret the results and explain them to you.

Lovely thank you, is the address on here to where I send them ? I would be nice to make sense of all this and to understand it a bit more

You could start a new thread (more people will see it), post the results in the format I gave in the example above ie

Test name : Result (reference range) eg TSH: 2.5 (0.2-4.2)

Either link back to this post or explain the situation again :)

Carbimazole itself has a short life. It is quite possible for a dose taken in the morning to have lost most of its effects by the next morning.

This does NOT mean that your thyroid hormones immediately rise.
