folate, b12, fbc and I think he said adrenanals. He has put me on a high supplement of vitamins which I am to take until the tests come through in a weeks time. Feeling that I am getting somewhere now
Hi, so I went to another Doctor yesterday. He s... - Thyroid UK
Hi, so I went to another Doctor yesterday. He seems to think that I am not on enough thyroxin . He has done a complete blood test, for
Glad you had a better experience with the new Doc. Don't forget to ask for copies when the results come through and retain them so you can post here - with ranges too. VitD ? Ferritin ? Iron ? None of these will be included in a FBC...
Glad you feel you are on your journey....keep up the chase
Hi Marz, def, the iron, not sure of VitD and Ferriting. Don't know that Vit D is tested often in this country as we are always in the sun
..we too live in the sun in Greece ! Both hubby and I were diagnosed as INSUFFICIENT even after 10 years of living here. It's about absorption again and when we are older - in addition to the Thyroid issues - the metabolism is slowing down..... Low levels are implicated in SO many illnesses - vitamindcouncil.com VitD is more than a vitamin - it is a steroidal pre-hormone and new things being discovered everyday. good book - The Vitamin D Solution - by Dr Michael Holick.
Hi Marz, Sorry forgot you said you lived in Crete (you lucky lady). Maybe he did test, will ask him when I go for the results. Silly, but I nervous that they all come back normal, then I will feel silly and not know what to do!
Just remember - you must NOT accept NORMAL. There is NO such thing as normal. Rsults may be in the range - but we are all individuals - and what is normal for one is not normal another. Obtain copies of your results and post here for people to comment....they can be in range but if they are LOW in the range then that is not good. Your GP may say OK but all the clever people on here will give you the REALITY....do not be nervous - we are all on your side and supporting to the best of our abilities.
It sounds as if you are lucky to have a good doctor. Remember when you have your blood tests not to take medication on the morning, have your tests as early as possible and take meds afterwards. Always get copies for your own records of your blood tests which must have the ranges.
Thanks Shaws, had them done at about mid day and had taken my pills about 6.00 that morning. This Dr. suggests I take them at night rather than morning as I walk at about 7.00 in the mornings and that is when I get my worst giddy spells.
Just bear in mind that taking the T4 the same day may just skew your result. Taking T4 at night can be good as long as you have left about two hours without food before dosing...
Well, your doctor sounds as if he knows a bit about thyroid medication. You wont have an accurate figure if you've taken levo at 6 a.m. and had blood test at 12. If you do decide to take your levo at night and you have a blood test due next morning, you have to miss the night's dose and take it after your blood test.
Not sure about the ferritin , really fedup123
Thanks reallyfedup123
