Doseage timing.

Hi Dobro Jutro.

Not sure if this will help anyone.

I had been taking NDT split in 2 doses. Set alarm at 07.30am for first and 2pm for second. As rediculous as it sounds but having to take the morning dose on an alarm was like being told what to do and the same with the afternoon.

I’d wake up, sit on the edge of the bed, reach for the pill container and glug down a full glass of water. Made me feel old. Felt like I lived my day around my dose. It was always in the back of my mind but I couldn’t get into the routine.

I’ve changed this in the last week. I take the first dose mid morning and the second later in the afternoon, as long as its over 2 hours since last food. I don’t feel like I have to live around my NDT it lives around me. It’s completely changed my mindset concerning my meds.

Have a good day.

Nick.

But has it made you feel better NickP1 ? Thinking of splitting my dose, 1 grain a.m. 1 grain p.m. like you I don't have a thyroid and am really struggling with fatigue.

Hi.

Psychologically, yes. Physically, certainly not made it any worse.

You can feel fatigued, being over and under. I know on here it’s said it’s best to be in top range with hormone replacement. But for me it seems it’s best in mid. My doseage is 1 1/2 grains. I’m 6ft and 15 stone, which would indicate I need a higher dose. I have been up to 2 grain didn’t feel any better. If anything slightly fatigued.

Also, and this may be a huge coincidence, I was suffering from very bad tennis elbow along with the fibro issues, on 1 1/2 grain. Tennis elbow has disappeared.

The problem is we are all very very different.

Hell for one is heaven for another.

Your reply is interesting NickP1 I am a bit like you, better mid-range. I am on 2 grains, 5'4" and 10 stone, and some people are surprised without a thyroid I take so little. There really is no rhyme or reason with this thyroid issue! I was ok the latter part of 2017, then I got the flu in January, and have crashed. H ave contemplated 1/4 grain more of Nature-throid, but I know from the past that it can make things worse.

Because I was ill at the beginning of the year, and my good diet went hay-wire, am looking to get back on track, because I am sure that will have a lot to do with things.

Have just had a blood test this morning, and they didn't test my thyroid, which I thought quite incredible. Hey ho, we have cuts now, so that sort of thing will be deemed un-important methinks.

Same here. 3 weeks in the house in December.

I take a couple of supplements and drink a glass of kafir every morning. Actually the tennis elbow started easing when I started drinking kafir as well. Maybe coincidence.

I always ask when having blood tests. If the doctor hasn’t asked for them. I’ll ask the nurse to include. Never been refused yet.

Kefir is amazing, I got on to it a couple of years ago and make my own. I am a bit tardy when it comes to regular taking, as sometimes I just don't fancy it. Which reminds me I shall have some now, with a scoop of Pro-greens.

Thanks for the blood test tip, bit late for me now, I really didn't think you could do that. I shall wait for the current results, they are testing ferritin, which I believe to be low, then trot back for another appointment (my low not theirs).

Nick of course you need yo ask your doctor ....I take my pill at night it’s been 2 years and I don’t feel sleepy and lethargic in the morning any more ..If a person has a dinner at 7 pm or even 8 pm and take the pill at 10 or 11 pm is ok .once again I’m not a doctor . Not eating fiber or calcium to close to the pill is advised

Hi.

At the moment I’m happy with the dose and result.

As far as the doctor, I’m afraid he’s of the usual NHS thought process. He’s pretty good, happy with my blood results but both he and the NHS endo he spoke to would prefer me on Levo, as they’re not up to speed on NDT.

As it stands that’s not going to happen. So we’re kinda on our own.
