Hi was anyone else diagnosed with a thyroid issue because of an unusually slow heart rate and blood pressure drops?

Thanks in advance for any responses 😜

Yes these are common symptoms

Here's a full list of possible symptoms

Have you had bloods tested. Perhaps you would add test results and ranges, members can advise

TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus thyroid antibodies. Also very helpful to get vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested too

Thanks SlowDragon I’m waiting for test results hopefully later today.

It’s the slow heart rate and drop in blood pressure that I’m struggling with. I read an article that said levothyroxine would only increase the heart rate by a max of 10bpm in patients suffering bradycardia. I was wondering if anyone else had similar experience and their bradycardia had improved. My heart rate did improve but has slowed back down again, possibly due to being under medicated?

Rosserk,

If you are undermedicated that will be why your heart rate has slowed again.

Thanks Clutter, I realise that. I guess what I’m trying to ask is, is this dangerous and will my heart recovery to pre- hypothyroid? Initially the levothyroxine improved my heart rate going from 46/50 to 63 bpm. I’m back down in the low 50s and really struggling again with chest pain, which doctors previously coukdn5 find a reason for. I’m worried the ups and downs are damaging.

Phoned for my results but they’re not back yet I have to ring again tomorrow. 😩

Rosserk,

Heart rate should recover to pre-hypothyroid levels once you are optimally dosed. I don't think temporary low heart rate is dangerous but long term it can be.

Clutter the long term effect is what I’m worried about. I first went to the doctors in March 2015 so it’s been three years...

I haven’t heard of a throne issue but can emphasise with the bradycardia. Have a read of my profile and you ‘ll understand.

Check T3 and reverse T3 (Suzy Cohen wrote a great article on this). It’s crucial to be optimally medicated on T3. It would also be useful to have your CRP inflammation levels checked by GP. Prudent also to check for H.Pylori as half the population has it and have no symptoms. This then creates an alkaline stomach environment with a knock on cascade effect along the digestive tract.

Do everything to minimise inflammation such as sugar, gluten, soy, dairy free. Then go after the occult infections and pathogens causing the inflammation and disrupting your neuro-endocrine system. I’ve moved to a Paleo type diet with intermittent fasting i.e. I fast Daily for 18 hours and only eat between the remaining 6. It’s taken a while to get to that so do your own due diligence on researching. Intermittent fasting lowers insulin and leptin resistance.

Pm me if you want the name of the Functional Nutritionist I work with on Skype.

I have and still am reversing what was challenging bradycardia which thankfully I no longer have.

A work in progress.. I do hope this helps.

Best Wishes

Oh dear, don’t you just love auto correct! Throne = thyroid, I never noticed!

Thank you for the information it sounds really interesting. Strangely enough I do feel better if I avoid carbohydrates, they literally make me feel like I’ve been poisoned, so avoiding sugars apppears accurate.

The low heart rate, chest pain and profuse sweating were the first real concerning symptoms I had. Doctors couldn’t find a cause so decided it was my normal! One doctor even told me Mo Fara had a resting heart rate of 40 so I must be super fit! I’ve been in the system for three years trying to find a cause. It was only when I mentioned to my doctor I’d gained a stone in a very short space of time that they decided to test my thyroid and found a problem. I had a repeat thyroid test two days ago which should be a full thyroid panel, I’m waiting for the results. That should show T3 and hopefully if there’s a problem they will change my medication.

Thanks again, Kindest regards...

My results have just come back.

TSH 3.7

T4 13.2

Doctor has refused to increase medication so I think my bradycardia will continue. Not sure how much more I can take
