NDT Vs T3 & T4 ??

Hi - Been on levo 150mg and Cynomel 0,025 mg since December - I was only on 50mg of levo a year ago and my doctor and endo have pushed meds up over the last year - the breakthrough I was hoping for hasn't come - when meds go up I have a surge of energy for afew weeks but it always comes back to normal - tiredness, aching legs and terrible insomnia - and weight !!!

Should I try NDT - has anyone failed to thrive on T4 & T3 combo and then done well on NDT ?

Both My T4 & T3 were near top third of range a few months back and vitamins all well in range to upper levels .

Many thanks for any advice ...

Nothing will work if you don't take enough of it. And, it sounds as if you aren't taking enough T3. Most people need it up the top of the range to feel well.

Your vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 need to be optimal too.

Have you had these tested recently?

Do you supplement?

yes I do - and last tested were all at top of range ... I just wondered if NDT was a significantly different treatment to T4 & T3 combined ? I'm sure its not helped as 53 and menopausal - little sleep due to night sweats - sadly I entered new treatement regime as the big symptoms of menopause hit - My endo doesn't want me on HRT but beginning to think I don't have an alternative as feel dreadfull due to lack of sleep - any advice welcome ?

Can you add your actual results for TSH, FT3 and FT4 plus thyroid antibodies

Also actual results and ranges for vitamin results

Night sweats can be low B12 (not necessarily menopause)

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

Insomnia can be low Vitamin D and B vitamins

drgominak.com/sleep/vitamin...

Though if your vitamins are at good levels it's perhaps unlikely

Low vitamin levels are extremely common and often completely ignored by both endocrinologists and GP's

Yet it's clearly know and reported in medical guidelines that low vitamin D, folate, ferritin or B12 all affect Thyroid

See Box 1. Towards end of article

Some possible causes of persistent symptoms in euthyroid patients on L-T4

You will see low vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 listed

Hello

Just read your post etc

I’m on NDT but considering the separate entities !

Still not well despite looking into everything

and yet I feel I’m getting nearer to the ultimate answers

The replies you received are spot on

And maybe I can add something here

Yes , you need optimalFolate Ferritin D and B12

Yes you need the right amount of t4 and t3

So you need Adrenal support ? I couldn’t manage without Cortex in the form of Adrenavive

Also

The main missing link was Progesterone

So many women are estrogen dominant

This stops your thyroid .. and medication.. from working properly

Do read Dr Lee

What your doctor may not tell you about menopause

Also Hormone Balance made simple

Also look on Wellsprings Serenity cream website

I’m convinced this is vital to start functioning properly

Also

Regarding sleep

I suffered insomnia most of life so I understand totally

Last summer for to virtually no sleep

I have found the solution !

Look at Zeez Sleep Pebble

Expensive but excellent trial period

Lovely company very flexible very friendly if you don’t like it all your money back minus £25

I’ve had mine over six months and wouldn’t be without it

Totally natural and solves problem from day one no side effects

Look it up and tell them I recommended you If you get one !

You won’t regret it !

Hope this helps

And let me know if you changed to NDT S I’m thinking of going the other way !!

All the best
