Loose Bowels

Hi, I'm having occasional stomach cramps and loose bowels at least three times in the morning.

I'm gluten free, very limited milk in tea and on 100 thyroxine

Supplementing vitamin d. 6000 iu at lunch, then retesting after 8 weeks.

Magnesium 300 mg at night.

Any advice most welcome.🌻🌻🌻

What form of magnesium are you taking? There are a couple of forms that can have a laxative effect.

Thanks for your reply,

Natures Best Magasorb ultra

As citrate

Magnesium citrate does have laxative properties. You could change your type of magnesium to a different one

Or if you've been taking the Magasorb for a while and the loose bowels etc are very recent, is there anything else new either in your diet or supplements that might be causing it?

I have as friend that gets diarrhoea if she has porridge or salad.

RFU,

How does it help to take mag in the morning?

Oh dear, it's truly a minefield.

I'll start with change of magnesium.

Cookware is stainless except frying pan, I shall replace!!

Did you stagger introducing your supplements? That way you can tell if one doesn't agree with you. If you started them all at the same time you wont know what's causing the problem.

I feel I am guilty of this.

I must be patient.

Thankyou SSSusie.🌻🌻🌻

Oh dear :(

Can you stop everything for a couple of days, then reintroduce just one supplement, give it a 1-2 weeks and if all OK then introduce the next one, give it 1-2 weeks, if all OK introduce the next one, etc. You should find the culprit that way if it is indeed one of the supplements.

I shall start tomorrow.

It appears that since taking vitamin d in a large dose, I feel my old self albeit a bit less confident, could that be possible?

Possibly.

Vitamin D is not actually a vitamin, but a pre-steroid hormone and therefore really essential to our wellbeing
