I started on 3mcg of tiromel t3 3 days ago i take it in the morning with my 75mcg of levo.. but last nite i couldnt sleep because like an uneasy pain in my chest, and palpatations too and sick feeling also...

And no definitely not over medicated as i was under medicated on 75 of levo my tsh was 10 and ft4 20 so thats out of the question..

FUNNY THING IS WHEN I TOOK THE BIT OF T3 THIS MORNING THE UNEASYNESS IN MY CHEST SUBSIDED FOR A LITTLE WHILE..

ThyroidObsessed,

Honestly, TSH 10 with FT4 20 does NOT indicate undermedication on 75mcg Levothyroxine and you probably felt bad on 100mcg because you were overmedicated.

If you have the uneasy pain and palpitations tonight take 3.125mcg T3. If you need the T3 it should ease the discomfort within the hour.

Thanks for answering clutter, yes i meant that the tsh was saying undermedicated, obviously dont need anymore t4 thats for sure...

The uneasy pain wasnt agony or anything more uncomfortable, i dont think t3 is causing it neither as i had it before i started t3 just not all night like last night and also has carried on today, but seem to subside for an hour or so when i took t3, so thought maybe the small amount of t3 has wore off and its back cant be sure to be honest...

The main thing i cant wait to go is the depression feeling detached almost and no motivation at all...

When do u think depression will lift, will it be on a higher dose?

May I ask a question (although not helpful to your situation sorry) just trying to do as much research as poss. How is it with a tsh of 10 you are not under medicated? I thought we need to be around 1? Sorry jumping in on your post. Delete if necessary, just curious fr my own research x

This is my problem Dee its been my problem for the last year and a half, as my ft4 is high in range saying im sufficently medicated but tsh saying im undermedicated and ft3 is also saying im undermedicated as its only at 4 (3.1- 6.8) hence why im trying t3 to see if my tsh lowers and ft3 goes higher..

Oh I see. I hope you sort it soon. Sorry for jumping in on your thread! Trying to get my head around it all. I hope you find your magic formula soon xx

Dee8686,

TSH, FT4 and FT3 should ALL be taken into consideration to determine whether someone is adequately dosed or undermedicated.

Generally, people on Levothyroxine will be optimally dosed when TSH is 0.2 -1.0 with FT4 in the upper range and FT3 halfway through range. ThyroidObsessed's feedback loop doesn't seem to be working as her TSH is high despite FT4 also being high.

I see thank you. I have increased my levothyroxine but waiting for full blood test. Increased on the basis of high tsh and feeling unwell. Will post my results when received x

ThyroidObsessed,

The feeling that T3 had worn off was an indication to me that I needed more. 3.125mcg is a tiny dose so see how you feel taking a second dose at bedtime.

If low T3 is causing depression it should lift when FT3 is higher in range.

I find T3 is calming and helps sleep. If over done it and had busy day start to get that "tired but wired" feeling of too much adrenaline

I have found taking 3 small doses 8 hours apart keeps T3 levels stable (waking, 8 hours later and bedtime)

SlowDragon,

T3 helped calm the adverse effects I had on Levothyroxine as well as improving my FT3.

In general you have more T4 than you need, and not enough T3. Work to slowly change that. You will benefit both from increasing T3 and reducing levo. The pain you describe...possibly gall bladder? Thyroid hormones get that baby working and if you have stones that could cause some pain.

Hi Kell, i dont think its gallbladder its not in my stomach its a uncomfortable uneasiness in the middle of my chest, could be anxiety, but then iv noticed i only get it when undermedicated, as iv had it before and it improved when i was on a higher dose of levo, but as u may or may not know i cannot tolerate more than 75 of levo without severe side effects so i am currently undermedicated on 75 with the tsh being high and ft3 lowish, thats wjy iv decided to introduce t3 to see if that helps x

Pain from gallstones is often mistaken for a heart attack. It's how the nerves are situated. Pain can feel like it is in your upper back as well.
