Hi since I am a poor converter of T4 to T3 may I please be PM'd a source where to get it from. Endo removed my T3 in 2017. It was added to 75mcg levo after 175mcg levo showed poor conversion. Through the months have been on as much as 100mcg levo and 10mcg T3. I really think T3 is what I need as I am depressed all the time. Thank you!

TSH 4.66 (0.2 - 4.2)

FT4 14.7 (12 - 22)

FT3 3.4 (3.1 - 6.8)

Taking 25mcg levo

Did you follow advice on previous post and increased Levo back up from 25mcg

Have you had vitamin levels tested and supplementing to improve if low

Are you on strictly gluten free diet too

Can you add most recent test results and ranges on all these

Email Thyroid UK for list of recommended thyroid specialists, some are T3 friendly

Vitamins are

Ferritin 31 (30 - 400)

Folate 2.3 (2.5 - 19.5)

Vitamin B12 963 (190 - 900) having B12 injections

Vitamin D total 60.2 (50 - 75 suboptimal)

I take 3000iu D3 oral spray under the tongue, iron tablets were stopped in 2017, folic acid 5mg once a week

I am gluten free

First it's essential to increase Levo until TSH is around one and FT4 towards top of range and FT3 at least half way in range

Have you increased Levo to 50mcg, will need retesting in 6-8 weeks

Likely your vitamins are dire. Ask GP to test

If you have Hashimoto's then strictly gluten free diet likely to help significantly or be essential

Once all this is sorted, if FT3 remains low then is time to look at adding small dose of T3

Hi no I have not increased levo yet. Vitamins added to post.

Positive for Hashimotos I think.

TPO antibodies 378 (<34)

TG antibodies 904.5 (<115)

Definitely Hashimoto's

First step is to increase Levo in 25mcg steps until TSH is around one and FT4 towards top of range and improve vitamin levels with higher supplements

Good that you are gluten free

Detailed supplements advice on Low vitamins due to under medication

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Vitamin D dose is inadequate. Many with Hashimoto's find Better You vitamin D mouth spray good as avoids poor gut function

Try 2 x 3000iu for 2 months, then drop to once daily and retest via vitamindtest.org.uk.

Plus magnesium and vitamin K2 Mk7 important with high dose vitamin D

Ferritin eating liver once a week should help improve levels

Daily vitamin B complex with folate in recommended

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Rosa18,

You are undermedicated. Why are you only taking 25mcg Levothyroxine?

Thank you, I was to start again with dosing.

Rosa18,

You are undermedicated and need a dose increase.

Please see your GP. Your endo was wrong to take you off 75mcg Levothyroxine + 10mcg T3 and discharge you without following up on your levels. I would be inclined to write a letter of complaint to the hospital PALS and ask to be assigned to another endo.

Most Hashimoto's patients can not do well on T3 without correcting low vitamins and addressing food intolerances. Usually gluten, sometimes also or dairy
