My GP has dropped my dosage of Levo. Can anyone tell me please how long this lower dosage takes to show up in the next blood test?

Thanks

I find that for me personally it takes 8 weeks to stabilise in blood tests, usually 6-8 weeks although you may feel the effects of the decrease earlier than that.

Why has your dose been reduced? Have you got the test results (with ranges) that prompted your GP to lower your dose.

Oh the usual story. He thinks that the T3 and T4 results show that I'm overdosing. He's lowered it a bit and I'm now suffering with tiredness, weight gain and slow memory. The fog is returning of course.

Thanks for your response Seaside Susie. BTW if you increase or decrease a dose, should it be done slowly i.e. incrementally. Just interested to know that one.

25mcg increments, unless of course you have an idiot for a doctor! Please say it's no more than 25mcg???

Were either FT4 or FT3 above range? You can only be overmedicated if FT3 is above range.

No only 25mcg! New doctor as sadly last wonderful GP has left the practice. I'm not sure what the results were but will certainly be asking for them next time. I have had them checked on this site before and got some good feedback.

So many seem to go by the TSH which is the one thing that once on medication is inaccurate! But yes post your readings as there may be other issues to look at as well.

Now I'm really confused. I thought I should be mindful of the T3 and T4 and now you are saying I need to look at the FT3 and FT4! Can I ask for those to be tested or is that a normal part of the blood test? I've only just managed to push the T3 and T4 test which they didn't want to do.

Not what you're looking for?
