ERFA Thyroid

Hi Guys

Has anyone on here had any experience taking ERFA Thyroid recently. I know they had issues with the formulation when moving factories a couple of years ago and people reported the formulation/ strength had changed.

I have recently started taking it and seem to be having a bad reaction. I started on half a grain for the first 2 weeks then went up to a full grain. It makes me feel spaced out with nausea and lethargic. Prior to this my endo tried me on Levo which gave me palpitations and anxiety so he agreed to try me on NDT. Whats interesting is before taking the Erfa I was taking Nutri thyroid and Thyro Gold which I felt amazing on. I was taking 1 150mg of there gold and 4 Nutri thyroid spread over the day (not a high dose).

I don't have any experience with other brands of NDT but after researching about ERFA it seems like a lot of people who had been using NDT for years had the same reaction as myself.

I have been following the autoimmune diet and taking all the supplements for the last 6 months. I don't have any recent blood tests. I have been Hypo for the last year and was recently told I have Hashimotos.

My TSH when Last tested was 11 and both T3 and T4 were not in range. 2 months ago my TSH was 120. I have to say I actually felt better when My TSH was 120 than I do now taking ERFA.

I had to jump through a few hoops to get the NDT (private prescription), and the doc Im seeing says he can only prescribe ERFA.

Many thanks

Stargazer62,

Your private doctor can prescribe other brands of NDT. If he says he can't it means he doesn't want to. Other brands available for prescription in the UK are Armour (very expensive), NatureThroid and Acella NP.

You were very undermedicated and overtly hypothyroid to have TSH 11 with FT4 and FT3 below range. You will be optimally dosed on NDT when FT3 is in the upper third of range with TSH low in range or suppressed <0.1. FT4 is often low or even below range when on NDT.

If you want to buy NDT without prescription write a post asking members to send you sources via private messages.

Thanks Clutter. I know where to self source NDT but Im curious about other peoples experiences with ERFA. I also understand that I'm hypothyroid :)
