Antibiotics and levothyroxine

how antibiotics effect thyroid?

I've been on lots of antibiotics and I'm now taking a low dose for 3 months, hasn't had any effect on Levo or thyroid.

Not all antibiotics affect thyroid or absorption of Levothyroxine but some can increase absorption while others decrease. Google "Levothyroxine + the brand name antibiotic + interaction".

Hi, please help me. I am suffering badly from the day i took antibiotics. My arm bones are sore. My foots are sore. my nails are aching. plz tell wat to do. I got periods on my 16th day of menstruation. I found light bleeding from 5days. is this all because of antibiotics..plz let me know. i am suffering alot. During these days i am suffering alot. plz help me.

I am using antibiotics for Ear infection.

levothyroxine 50 mcg--morning i am taking

clarithromycin 250mg --afternoon and night i am taking.

It sounds as though you may be having an adverse reaction to the antibiotic. You should discuss it with your pharmacist or make an appointment to see your GP to discuss an alternative antibiotic.

i used amoxicillin for 1week 2months back

i used penicillin for 1 week 1 month back

i started using clarithromycin from just 1 week...but i am suffering alot.

plz tell me which antibiotics interacts with levothyroxine. I am unable to find solution.

But they can affect gut bacteria which has an indirect effect. Less or wrongly balanced gut bacteria can change absorption of nutrients and affect conversion from ft4 to ft3. So consider a course of good probiotics after every course of anti-biotics.

Optibacs make a probiotic to take at the same time as the antibiotics so they stop any problems occurring in the first place.
