Natural dedicated thyroid
It used to be the only replacement for hypothyroidism before the introduction of blood tests and NDT and it was also prescribed for quite a while after that. It has now been withdrawn but some private Endocrinologists can prescribe.
If you email dionne.fulcher@thyroiduk.org.uk and ask for details of doctors who will prescribe.
Many source their own and bypass having to pay fees for consultations etc. but many prefer to do this.
Some people are prescribed it by their NHS GP, whilst others are given a private prescription by them where the GP is willing to help but prevented from doiing so by the CCG - but it can actually be cheaper to source without a private prescription than to use the prescription, and very much cheaper if you have one of the Thai NDTs. The upside to having it dispensed against a private prescription is the safety factor of course. So it "might" be worthwhile asking your GP just in case he's one of the few willing to prescribe, or to give you a private prescription; but in the more likely event he refuses, to be prepared to go it alone.
Tidg45,
NDT is not licenced for UK use so it is rarely prescribed on the NHS. Most members using NDT have private prescriptions or buy online and self medicate.
Could people please pm sites that I could use to source NDT please
