My name is Patrice I am french 40 years old and I had my thyroid removed completely last December due to a cancer.
I am under levothyrox but I would like to go for natural treatment cause it is my ethic first and cause I am feeling tired all the time.
Can you please let me know if someone can help me having a prescription on natural thyroid treatment or if i can ask the hospital or my GP. I know that it is hard to get those treatment and I probably will not dare to ask either.
Can you advise me please. It is very important for me
Thank you for your help

Patrice, NDT isn't licensed for use in the UK so it is rarely prescribed on the NHS. A few members are able to get it prescribed but it is very much down to individual GPs and endocrinologists whether they choose to do so. Most members using NDT buy it on the internet and self medicate.
Thyroidectomised patients don't always do well on Levothyroxine only as they may not be able to convert sufficient T4 to T3 and combination Levothyroxine and Liothyronine (T3) may be prescribed by an endocrinologist to overcome this.
Can you post your recent thyroid results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after results) and I'll advise.
No, the doctors are not generally a lot of help f you don't do well with levothyroxine. However, because in the UK, it is possible to import your own medication, it does allow you, , to some extent, the choice of how you are treated.
In France, NDT. Is illegal so the only option is synthetic meds..
