I currently live in America; however, there is a good chance I will be moving to Edinburgh, Scotland. I have Hashimoto's, and the corresponding Adrenal problems. I am currently seeing a functional doctor who has me on NDT, and low dose naltrexone. I've made some improvement with this treatment. I am fearful that I won't be treated by anyone once I moved since my test results fall in the outdated "normal range". Can anyone recommend an educated doctor, in Scotland, regarding thyroid/adrenals?

I was given this email address to contact Thyroid UK for a list of member recommended endocrinologists: dionne.fulcher@thyroiduk.org
There are some good names in Edinburgh, including Dr Toft, but it comes down to how much you'd be able to pay as well. It would seem irresponsible for a Dr here to stop prescribing thyroid replacement hormone to someone already on it, but if you do get a GP who tries it, find another GP.
You need to be aware that NDT is not licensed for use in the UK so it is rarely prescribed on the NHS. NHS will prescribe Levothyroxine. Most members using NDT have private prescriptions or buy online and self medicate.
If you are intending to access private healthcare then contact the offices of the doctors you are considering using to check they will prescribe NDT before confirming a consultation.
