T3

I was referred by my doctor to an endocrinologist in Kent who has been brilliant. I have been seeing him privately as I didn't want to wait for months via the NHS. He established that I need a combination of T3 and T4 and has given me a private prescription for 125 mg T4 and 10mg T3 but it is extremely expensive for the T3 (£250 per month). The Endo has written to my GP to ask if they will refer me to his NHS practice but I have been told that it will take probably take around 6 - 7 months for the referral to go through and that my GP may not even want to refer me as I initially saw the Endo privately. Until it gets sorted I would really like to source the T3 myself and was wondering if someone would PM me with reputable places that I could buy the T3 from. Much appreciated

Bonnie2014,

Most T3 supplied without prescription is 25mcg so buy a pillcutter so you can quarter the tablets into 6.25mcg doses. Start with 6.25mcg added to Levothyroxine to see how you tolerate it and if it is good you can increase to a second 6.25mcg dose to be taken at bedtime.
