Ectopic heart beat: Hi can any one help I’m on... - Thyroid UK
Ectopic heart beat
Do you have Hashimoto's also called autoimmune thyroid disease, diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
Obviously you need FT4 and FT3 tested. But like thousands of others you will have to do so privately if GP won't
Highly likely to have low vitamin levels. These can often upset heart.
Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested? Post results and ranges if you have. Get GP to test if not
If vitamin D is low, Magnesium may be too and is crucial for heart. Not a lot of point testing magnesium, though you can ask GP
Many of us who are hypo and especially if Hashimoto's find magnesium supplements helpful
If you have Hashimoto's then gluten is another possible cause.
Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels
Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working
Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten
According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's is very poorly understood
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies
Ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Have you always been on 150mcg ? when were you diagnosed ? Your TSH is quite low...when I had similar symptoms it was because my thyroxine dose was too high.
Hi thanks for your reply my tsh was 20 when started on levo started on 25 mcg then slowly increased have been on 150mcg for a couple off years these ectopic when they come are awful they is no pattern thin I may reduce my levo by taking 125mcg and 150 every other day
There are some typical heart problems that hypo people have. There is a lag in the r wave, there can be an enlarged left ventricle. I've seen this several times so I'm sure you can locate it online. I feel that these are indicative of low T3 and/or being under medicated.
I would try strictly gluten free diet
You might be amazed
Other likely culprit is low vitamin D and low magnesium
Magnesium is essential for heart
Loads of us with Hashimotos supplement magnesium
