Goitre

Difficult swallowing

Dry skin

Acne

Pins and needles

Fatigue

Cold intolerance

Weight gain

Sugar cravings

Salt cravings

Depression

Anxiety

Dry eyes

Hair growth on face and body

Yes.

Haven't you seen your GP yet?

Have you had any blood tests?

Take this list with you to GP. Or print list of symptoms of Underactive Thyroid on Thyroid UK website , tick all you have and take with you.

If GP refers you to an Endocrinologist, they should (I would assume) do all the tests.

If GP decides to test, then ask if they are doing Thyroid Antibodies TPO and Tg. If not, ask for them.

Make sure you have Adrenals checked out also before starting Thyroid treatment.

Ask GP to check nutrients levels of

Vitamin D & Calcium

B12 & Folate

Ferritin

also.

TPO 8400 (<34)

I had bloods done in Dec 2017 and haven't heard back yet

So why did you ask if you should pursue these symptoms - when you already have!

Is this the only blood test you had taken?

You have just given a result of raised TPO which is positive for Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroiditis which causes Hypothyroidism in most cases.

So, why have you said you haven't heard back yet? You have the result!

See your doctor for referal to Endocrinologist / or treatment. You could ask about an Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid.

Make sure you have Adrenals tested before starting your Levothyroxine.

The TPO was done in Nov 2016, sorry, I am still waiting on TSH FT4 FT3. Scan on thyroid done Aug 2015

You had a Thyroid scan August 2015.

You had TPO test Nov 2016.

When did you get these results?

TSH, FT4 & FT3 done in December should be reported by now.

Call in or phone your Practice. Ask for a print out of results or ask them to read out over phone while you write them down - ask for the numbers and ranges.

When you see your GP - remember that the therapeutic level of TSH in Hypothyroid patients is not the same as the 'normal' range.

TPO I had since 2016. I have TSH FT4 FT3 now

Who did TPO test 14 months ago, was it your GP?

Only it seems very unusual that a doctor would test just Thyroid Peroxidase in isolation.

Did GP also test your TSH, FreeT3 & FT4 at the same time?

And were you told that hey were "normal".

Just wondering, because with Hashimoto's bloods can fluctuate.

I had Hypothyroid results in 2008. No one told me. So I didn't know about those for a long time.

18 months later a different Consultant noticed them and retested. But the tests he did came back within "normal" range. So he said "Thyroid's OK "! That was February 2010.

I didn't have TPO test till I saw Endocrinologist after asking my GP for the scan in 2011. So was , finally, formally diagnosed and treated late 2011.

At least you are diagnosed now, once you have your Adrenals checked, then start your Levothyroxine and get your nutrients levels tested and supplemented you can look forward to feeling better.

GP told me TPO didn't mean anything

See a different GP or make a complaint or both.

Ask for an urgent referal to an Endocrinologist and get Adrenals checked FIRST before starting any Levothyroxine.

As you have your results are you posting them?

Most of your replies in this thread could have - and should have been in your original post.

That would have saved a lot of time.

No ferritin etc taken for 4 years

ps

Take your temperature first thing every morning (remember to add one, if taking underarm - I forgot once!).

If if is ever low (below 36.5 but particularly below 36) keep a record and add to symptoms list.

Low body temperature is also a symptom of Hypothyroidism.

You could also Google search 'symptoms of deficiencies' in each of the nutrients on' NHS choices' and other sites.

Low body temp is 34.8 degrees celsius

So - tell your doctor.

There are no doctors on here.

No one is medically qualified.

You need to see your doctor and seek formal diagnosis and treatment without further delay.
