17 Year Old Son's Lab Results. Advice Please.

Hi. Looking for advice on my son's blood test results. His GP suggested I take him to an Endocronologist. Scheduled an appointment but the next available appointment isn't until Feb. 23, 2018. Free T3 and Total T3 have been HIGH. TSH has been going down. He has symptoms of anxiety, hand tremors, fatigue, hair loss.

12-22-2017 Test Results: TSH 0.97 (0.45-5.33), FT3 4.34 HIGH (2.50-3.90) , Total T3 169.25 (87.00-178.00), FT4 1.32 (0.60-1.70)

10-31-2017 Test Results: TSH 1.00 (0.45-5.33), Total T3 HIGH 189.26 (87.00-178.00), FT4 1.11 (0.60-1.70)

9-24-2016 Test Results: TSH 1.143 (0.46-4.98), FT3 HIGH 4.29 (2.50-3.90)

9-6-2016 Test Results: TSH 2.768 (0.46-4.98), FT4 0.93 (0.60-1.70)

10-31-2017 Thyroglobulin AB <1.0 (0.0-0.90), Throid Peroxidase 13 (0=26)

Your son is mildly hyperthyroid to have FT3 over range. His GP could confer with the endocrinologist whether to prescribe a low dose of Carbimazole and/or Propranolol until his consultation in February.

Thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies are negative but it is Thyoid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI) or TSH Receptor Antibodies (TRab) which need testing in endocrinology to confirm or rule out autoimmune thyroiditis (Graves Disease) causing hyperthyroidism.

Thank you for your reply. I will contact his GP about the medications. Maybe that would help his symptoms especially the anxiety. Thanks again!
