Struggling with weight
You didn't drop 100mcg in one go did you?
No 50 at a time. They took me off everything for a month then. Look tests and even brain scan. Been all over the place
This doesn't sound right. Whether increasing or reducing dose, it is supposed to be done gradually by 25mcg at a time and retesting after several weeks.
It should not be stopped altogether - was there a reason?
Ask your doctor for blood tests to check your nutrients levels of :
Vitamin D
Calcium
B12
Folate
and Ferritin
Get a copy of the results and put on here.
Drink plenty of water for your IBS and get Fybogel Orange sachets on prescription. Take one or two everyday. Add a little fresh orange juice to Fybogel - if stops it from going thick before you can drink it.
Don't worry about loosing the weight. Get your Levothyroxine sorted first and any supplements you need as you WILL have absorption problems.
Ask for up to date TSH and Free T4, FreeT3, T4 and T3 tests. You probably won't get all of them.
Once medication and supplements are sorted you can relax and think about a healthy reducing diet (1000 - 1200 calories a day). Also gradually increasing gentle exercise (walking snd/or swimming).
If you like them - eat a banana every morning and a few Brazil nuts each day. 2 or 3 other pieces of fresh fruit and potatoes and root veg. Avoid caffeine, cheese, eggs, white bread, marshmallows and broad beans for the time being.
Sorry that was lbs as in pounds and not IBS as in irritable bowel syndrome wasn't it.
Oops!
The first thing you need to do is get hold of your blood test results. You need to see exactly what was tested and exactly what the results were. You cannot know why you have a weight problem until you know all that. It could be nothing to do with what you eat, and low-calorie diets will probably make things worse. With any problem, you should start at the beginning and take one step at a time. And, the first step is getting hold of those results - for as far back as you possibly can. If you live in the UK, it is your legal right to have a print-out.
