T3/t4

Hi can any one tell me why ,when on t3 only I needed more more t3 than thyroxine such as ,used to be on thyroxine 100 MCG and when on t3 only I was on 40/45 MCG.Second question is I am on t3/t4 now 50 thyroxine and 20 t3 and am so hot any reasons why,thankyou.

Perhaps you were undermedicated on 100mcg thyroxine?

Being overmedicated can make you feel hot but if you are not overmedicated I don't know why you are feeling hot.

Thanks Clutter ,I know its weird as when I did raise thyroxine ,I felt hyper symptoms and more pain.Have a great Christmas,back to peeling sprouts.

I think that T3 lasts for less time than T4 so if you take it all in one go you might need more. That’s why it’s usual to split the dose into two of more doses. I believe it takes along time to get it balanced, in my case anyway.

I know that when I moved onto T3/T4 combination, I did feel hotter, but reckoned that was my body finally warming up after being cold for years! The weather here in Scotland just now is unseasonably warm too! There are also seasonal variations (I believe) in how your body reacts to thyroid meds. For me, my free T3 levels went down the colder it got. So there may be something like that happening?
