I've been taking Mercury Pharma thyroxine for about 10 days and every day when I take it, it tastes salty and fizzy and I'm now experiencing awful acid pains under my breast bone which seem to be getting worse every day. My stomach feels sore all the time. Could this be the thyroxine or just me getting an ulcer !!

Hi, Yes. I've had Merk, Actavis and Wockhardt as well as MP. I've just been taking from the chemist what I've been given and not been conscious of it making a difference until now. But the horrible acid stomach is only something I've noticed in the last 10 days or so since I've been taking MP which has prompted me to check the brands of what I've got. I'm thinking I'll take the pack of unopened MP back to get it swapped and then make a conscious effort to find out which brand I'm OK with and stick to it.
Ask pharmacist to dispense Actavis 50mcg and Wockhardt 25mcg or Wockhardt 3 x 25mcg if you were comfortable with them prior to Mercury Pharma. My pharmacy won't exchange prescription meds which have left the pharmacy but see what your pharmacist says.
Please fill out a yellowcard report about the Mercury Pharma adverse effects yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/
