Hi Everyone I hope your all feeling OK !

As greygoose told me I waited until Monday morning to do my first finger test with blue horizon.....as I received it on Wed last week and bloods would have sat around all weekend ...so I waited ...did everything I needed to do, so it would be right...

And I didn't realise you have to fill Both Tubes I only did 1 and that was a struggle but filled it up to the line... it wasn't until I decided to ring Blue Horizon today and Steve told me that I should of done both.... I had already sent it off this morning hoping that I would get my results v. soon......Uhhhh ! Steve said that they will try and do as many of the thyroid 12 tests as they can but he can't promise anything its up to the lab,,, so maybe I am going to have to get another Kit...Any ladies on here done the same as me???? any advice greatly appreciated... I will get my results 'one day'

Thanks for reading my pathetic post.... just so desperate to find out what's going on with my thyroid! after feeling so poorly for the last year.

I haven't done that with a thyroid test - mainly because I knew I wouldn't be able to prick my own finger as i'm so squeamish! so I paid to have the blood taken privately. But I did pay a lot of money to have a SIBO test done - and I apparently cocked that up big time, although I followed the instructions, and I got no results from it. I was so upset. So I sympathise greatly! Fingers crossed they will be able to get your results done for you :)

Oh I was just wondering today whether to order the at home tests or get it done privately.

I’m so worried about messing it up although I’m not squeamish.

Does anyone know the turnaround on these things? I wonder if it’s worth ordering before Xmas

Hope they have enough to test you properly xx

I paid for the private test partly because of squeamishness and partly because I just know I could do without the stress of messing it up! But I think plenty of people do use the at home tests ok.

I think it depends what tests you're having done. My latest test which was just TSH, T4 and T3 had a day turnaround, but the previous test which included reverse T3 was 14 days turnaround.

The local private hospital which has an arrangement with Medichecks I could just turn up to their drop in clinic to have the blood taken.

You wouldn't be able to get test done before Christmas.

Not sure if labs open before new year

Personally after many painful, difficult finger prick tests, struggling to fill tubes I now pay the extra and get private blood draw done at local private hospital

The labs - well the ones Blue Horizon use - are open between Christmas and New Year. Mainly because as the labs do work for the NHS and other private hospitals, and both still need blood tests done in this time.

The main issue is if you do them by post even if using next day guaranteed delivery, due to the public holidays they may be stuck in the sorting office for a few days. If you do them so that Blue Horizon or Medichecks is responsible for ensuring they get to the lab e.g. using a private hospital, then they will be couriered to the lab.

Thanks Saya, I think the tests are fine ... but I think I tried to rush it a little if I had taken more time I am sure I would of been OK. Here's hoping they have enough knowing my luck I will be ordering again in the new year.... thanks for reading.
