Hi I am new, I have pernicious anaemia and I also have Graves disease. Are the 2 connected? Thankyou

TSH 0.02 (0.2 - 4.2)

FREE T4 25.6 (12 - 22)

FREE T3 4.2 (3.1 - 6.8)

Was taking levothyroxine before the Graves diagnosis.

Emmz2,

No, they're totally seperate autoimmune conditions.

Are you still taking Levothyroxine?

No I came off it 6 weeks ago, new results are

TSH 7.10 (0.2 - 4.2)

Free T4 9.3 (12 - 22)

Free T3 3.0 (3.1 - 6.8)

Emmz2,

Well you obviously are hypothyroid and need Levothyroxine because FT4 and FT3 are below range and TSH is high.

What reason was given for taking you off Levothyroxine?

Thankyou the reason was because endo did not believe I was ever hypothyroid in the first place with TSH 67.5 (0.2 - 4.2) Free T4 10.1 (12 - 22)

Emmz2,

Are you saying that s/he did not believe TSH 67.5 with FT4 under range was hypothyroid and took you off 150mcg?

I think patients are going to have to step up and complain about this lousy doctoring. Start by writing a complaint to the head of endocrinology dept. This dickhead has compromised your health and perhaps your ability to work and earn a living.

That is correct.

Emmz2,

I don't know what qualifies him/her to be an endocrinologist if s/he really thinks that. Please write that letter of complaint. In the meantime, either your GP or endo need to prescribe you Levothyroxine ASAP because you are overtly hypothyroid.

No, you don't have Grave's disease. If you did, your FT3 would be over-range. Your TSH is suppressed and your FT4 over-range, but you are not even hyper with that low FT3. You have a conversion problem, which is why your FT4 is so high.

I agree with Clutter. This endo should not be in charge of thyroid patients when s/he knows so little about it. You must complain.
