Blood results 🤔

Hi - My dose of levo was increased from 100mcg to 125mcg

Just had my bloods re done .

Whilst taking 100 mcg TSH 2.4. ( 0.1 - 5mU/ L ). T4- 16 ( 8- 19 pmol/ L )

New dose 125mcg. TSH 0.15. T4 - 22

Anyone know if my T4 is now too high ? ( also how to switch bold type off on an iPad 😱 )

How long did you leave between your last dose of levo and the blood draw?

It would have been about 5 hrs

Then that explains the high FT4. It should be 24 hours.

Thank you- hopefully I’ve found the right dose as I requested the increase when my TSH had gone back up again last time .I’m having some private bloods done v soon so it will double check.

Just remembered that I had these bloods done in the afternoon with some other tests . So I’d taken my levo where as normally I go in the morning before I take the levo 😡 Would it make much of a difference??

It would indeed make a difference. The result is that your TSH is too low and your FT4 too high. You now look over-medicated, but I doubt you are.

Maybe21 No idea about bold on an iPad, I can't even switch it on on my tablet :D

Your FT4 is a tad too high, maybe you need 112.5mcg daily. But it would be a good idea to have FT3 tested too to see if that is still within range.

Sorry, just read the other replies. Yes, timing of blood test and taking Levo wouldn't have helped and is most likely the reason for the high FT4.

Thanks Susie - Can’t believe I was daft enough not to wait until the next day til I had the bloods done but the other tests were quite important and I just wanted to get them done ☹️

Had T3 done in Aug which was 3.6 ( 2.1 - 6 ) a GP registrar actually agreed to do it !

I’m having reverse T3 done soon ( privately )

It’s such a tricky prob to deal with 😥

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results

Have you checked vitamin D, Folate, ferritin and B12 recently

How high are your TPO antibodies?

With Hashimoto's vitamins are likely to be low

Also are you strictly gluten free if you have Hashimoto's

Thanks for your reply 😊

Total Vit D 64.2 n mol / L normal range not given Dec 2016

Ferritin 224 ( 10- 300 ng/ mL ) Dec 2016

B12 393 pg / mL. ( 200-900 ). Dec 2016

Folate 6.9 mg / mL ( 3-12) Jan 2014

TPO at Gp 301 iu/ mL 0-75. Oct 2016

Blue horizon TPO 224.5. ( less than 34 ) March 2017

Ant thyroglobulin 10.7 ( less than 115) March 2017

I am strictly gluten free at home but difficult when eating out with hidden stuff in food .

Understand now that it really should be strict - have read Chris Kesser stuff .

I’m having a whole host of tests a functional diagnostic package with thyroid add ons . Have been seeing a Functional Medicine practitioner ( experienced GP who now specialises in Functional Medicine) Mainly coz I couldn’t lose weight and have painless swollen hands even though all rheumatoid tests are negative . Also neck glands always up & edging towards pre diabetes .

So maybe at some point when I have all the info together I will book an appt with an Endo - who can’t refuse any tests coz they’ve all been done with the exception of a thyroid scan

Thanks again 😍

Vitamin D is too low. Usual advice is to Aim for around 100nmol minimum. Testing twice yearly to keep stable

Vitamindtest.org.uk £28 postal kit

Better You mouth spray vitamin D by passes gut issues. They do one that also includes vitamin K2

Magnesium is important alongside vitamin D as co factor (minimum 4 hours away from Levo)

B12 and Folate are on low side

Good vitamin B complex (plus sublingual B12 may be) might help

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
