Should I come off Carbmazole- can't spk to consultant and don't want t4 to drop even more and go under!

Just done a private test and now my results are

T4 14.5

Tsh 0.07

Two weeks ago they were

T4 18

Tsh 0.05

T3 6.7

And 6 weeks ago

T4 33

Tsh 0.05

T3 10

Seen the consultant last week and he said do blood test at docs in two weeks (4 weeks after last one) and if t4 still normal they will stop my Carbmazole.

I don't want to wait until then as I think I'm going to go under. If I can't get through to him shall I just stop it or reduce to 5mg? I am on 10mg since I seen him last week- I was on 20mg up until then for 5 weeks. I'm going to go under the way it's dropping.

Also have a radioactive scan next week- sounds scary! Are there any side effects?

Thanks

Giri88888,

Don't stop Carbimazole, your TSH is still suppressed even though FT4 is dropping. Try reducing to 7.5mg until your next blood test.

You will be given such a low dose of RAI it is highly unlikely you will have any adverse effects.

Thanks, consultant last week said if I'm still on t4 normal range he would take me off carb. Just co vented by the time I do the next blood test I'm going to be under? He said my tsh may take a while to catch up.

Giri88888,

Perhaps you should ring your endocrinologist.

Giri88888,

I doubt your GP has time to make calls on your behalf. It's probably better for you to keep trying.

Also shall I stop taking selenium this may be making it drop so quick also?

Giri88888,

No need to stop taking selenium. It is good thyroid support. It won't make your FT4 drop.
