Hi guys,
I'm asking this: do you know any website that sell hydrocortisone without prescrption?
Do yiu mean hydrocortisone cream? If so boots and superdrug do it but it is only a low dose of 1% and they will ask if you are going to use it on rhe face- if so they will not prescribe it, ive brought it from boots and always told a fib saying its for someone else and they have a slight bit of eczema on their hands. Nit good but when needs must.😊
HC is not something you should be self-treating with - although, to be honest, the majority of doctors have no idea how to treat with it, either! But, you should at least be under an endo. You could shut your adrenals down completely. And, once shut down, they will not come back to life.
The adrenals are not like the thyroid in their reactions, and HC is not like thyroid hormone.
Greygoose did he mean hc the cream? For skin comditions? 😨 or something else.
By the way my enfo still has not returned my call fro a week ago, called again yesterday and left message with his secretary-how did he come to the conclusion that i have graves when no tsi test as been done? Plus 2 weeks of being on titration dose of 10mgs carbimazole i feel like back to square one with feeling dteadful.im going to get bloods done first thing monday at 8am, if my bloods were looking hypo 5 weeks ago my t3 t4 must be rven lower now. .i do think im over medicated still and need to be on 5mgs or lower, need my ultrasound results as i want to need whats what. 😊x
Greygoose,
Would you care to elaborate on that?
I am asking because it seems most Hertoghe doctors routinely put you on either HC or Medrol (20-30 mg of HC daily, usually, or 4-6 mg of Medrol) if diagnosed with adrenal fatigue. Once on it, of course you could say you are under a doctor's supervision, but not quite as you normally only see your doctor once a year. Which means we are left unsupervised for months on end. So far, I have not heard about anyone's adrenal glands shutting down from these doses, though, which is why I was wondering if you were referring to much higher doses; i.e. the ones you'd typically be prescribed if you have Addison's disease (adrenal insufficiency)...?
Well, actually, the OP hasn't mentioned doses at all. And, one of the things that worries me is that, if she's not under a doctor that knows what he's doing, s/he might put herself on too high a dose.
There's also the danger that the OP will decide to take the HC throughout the day - as per Addison's - which is wrong for adrenal fatigue, and that will shut the adrenals down - and that is Hertoghe wisdom - have you never been told that? With adrenal fatigue, you should just take it first thing in the morning - and not at the same time as thyroid hormone replacement, either - when the adrenals have their busiest time, just to give them a helping-hand, so to speak. Then, if necessary, at lunchtime. But, never after 1 pm.
Presumably, if you're put on HC and then left for a year, you don't mess around with your dose? But, for someone who is self-treating, there's always the temptation to think that if some is good, more is better.
Ok
