Issues: I've got UAT , OSTIO ARTHRITIS AND... - Thyroid UK
Issues
I am not medically qualified but TUK had a brilliant researcher/scientist who, died, unfortunately due an accident. He is sorely missed.
Fibromyalgia as well as dysfunctional thyroid glands was Dr Lowe's expertise. He was also a very kind and helpful person who was sadddened that many who could recover or improve their condition were not recognised by many doctorss and therefore the patient remained symptomatic.
He would only prescribe NDT (natural dessicated thyroid hormones) or T3 only for those who were 'resistant' to thyroid hormones.
I shall give you a copy of some of Dr Lowe's links. I will say that the majority of endocrinologists or doctors know little about how to relieve the patients' clinical symptoms.
If you're in the UK, you will probably find it very difficult to get T3 (liothyronine) prescribed. The preference of GPs/doctors seem to have been directed to only prescribe levothyroxine (T4). T4 is an inactive hormone and has to convert to T3 (liothyronine) and it is T3 that's needed in our millions of T3 receptor cells - the heart and brain have the most T3 receptor cells.
T3 (liothryonine) is rarely prescribed now as it has risen in cost but I see no harm in ask for you to have a trial of T3 or T3/T4.
Dr John Lowe died through an accident but there are a number of his articles and I'll have a look to see if I can source more of them.
This is a link and it will cover quite a number of Dr Lowe's research/studies.

There is a lot to take in and read, but go slowly.
He would never prescribe levothyroxine, which is T4.
He would only prescribe T3 (liothryonine for those who were 'resistant' or NDT (natural dessicated thyroid hormones).
Unfortunately for us, if you're in the UK, those I would expect to know more than those who're suffering don't seem to have a clue..
This is the method when you are due a blood test.
Always make the very earliest appointment - even if you do so weeks ahead.
Make the appointment at the earliest for a blood draw.
It is a fasting test but you can drink water.
Allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of levothyroxine and the test and take it afterwards.
Always ask for a copy of your blood test results, for your own records and post if you have a query.
The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower and a Free T4 and Free T3 to be in the upper part of the ranges.
Always get a print-out of the results, with the ranges, for your own records and post if you have a query.
I have read here of the many people suffering from other health issues when their thyroids are poorly treated and vitamins and minerals are low.
I have quickly read through your earlier posts where there has been so much good advice. Very little info from you - like results with ranges - which is always a good starting point for helpful discussions. Sorry if I missed them 🌻
Any condition ending in ' itis'
can indicate inflammation so looking at diet can be helpful.
Yes I too diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I have arthritis but have found that if my nutrition is good and I take my ndt regular I am much better and am in the garden at the moment where couldn’t do it before because of the pain. If I keep off wheat, bread cakes etc. No peanut butter and have protein with each meal lots of veg. Two eggs every morning has changed everything , lines the stomach, regulates blood sugar and minerals and vits in them are absorbed by the body. I make 2 egg waffles with just 2 eggs ,2 tsp ground almond, a little salt, small tsp gluten free flour, squirt of maple syrup, whisk add to waffle maker(€12 from Lidl) a game changer for me, wish I started the day like this years ago.. all the best
Yes I have all of them and sjogrens syndrome and find life more than difficult. X
