I posted a while ago after reluctantly having a blood test at the Dr ...I take NDT , I have not told my Dr. She didn't under stand the blood test results and wanted me to see an endo , to cover herself . I made an app NHS end of Jan 2018 . I had a call yesterday saying they did not want to see me , I'm not sure if they think I am looking for an NDT prescription . I explained not ! So here now in no mans land unless I pay privately to see the same Dr who will prescribe NDT ....its a bit of a joke ... NOt !!!

I am in the same boat. I am on my own entirely, not ideal but I have no other option.

GP referred me to endo as she didn't understand results (I take T4 and T3) and endo wrote back to GP to say they would not offer me an appointment.

You can help yourself recover and you also have the flexibility.

Yes ...Dr wasn't bothered when I had years of severe joint pain .....if she looks at my records I've not been in using up appointments !! You think they might be slightly curious why not !!

Curious and sympathy is missing I feel. They are poorly trained - ignorant of any symptoms - and only look at the TSH.

Oh that's the same as me then ! But if you go private and pay quite a few endos are willing to prescribe NDT ,,, it is wrong !

Looks like if you self treat you are on your own. Punished for going against the all knowing docs.

You don't need a doctor if you self-treat after your initial blood test which confirms you are hypothyroid.

I am assuming if you see the Endo privately he will prescribe NDT for which you will have to pay.

Val-55,

How does the endo know you are taking NDT?

I had to have a blood test at the Dr had not had one for over a year ... obviously my TSH is too low . I showed her my blood test where TSH same but showed a T3 of around 5 , I told dr I was taking NDT . She didn't know what it was and to cover herself wanted me to see an Endo .

Val-55,

Well, you said you only agreed to see an endo because your GP asked you to so is it a problem? It's not your fault the endo has declined to see you.

The reason re NDT it is that the medical profession have been brainwashed that it is unstable etc etc. Despite the fact that it was first used in1892 and before that we died. It is still in use and was the only hormone replacement to be used for 100 years up until Big Pharma saw a way of building profits and gradually through False Statements Endos don't prescribe.

Levo and Blood Tests equal $$$$$. Dr Lowe stated that NDT was overtaken by Levo due to 'payments' made to doctor to prescribe levo alone.

Worldwide now it is levothyroxine plus blood tests. I don't know how much extra money is spent on prescrips for the remaining 'symptoms' as many don't get an optimum dose due to the TSH figure being kept 'in range' and not low or suppressed. Rarely testing FT4 and FT3 as told TSH and T4 are sufficient.
