Activated mucosal T cell immunity?

Does anybody know about this? I believe it's an indicator / cause of gluten sensitivity. I can find a paper which says approx 43% of Hashimotos patients exhibit it, but is there a specific test for it?

There's no NHS test for gluten sensitivity

Cyrex offer lots of tests, through nutritionist or functional medic, but they are expensive

Thanks for that. I will look into it. I am 99% GF at the moment, and my antibodies are well within range but it's a royal pain as I am allergic to potato, and pretty much all 'GF' products contain potato in some form. My GP has done the Gliadin antibody test and I am all clear on that front, but it would be good to get a bigger picture.

do you also react to tomato, pepper and aubergine....all are members of nightshades group.

Its well recognised hypo group of foods to react to

See The Thyroid Pharmacist

I've never been able to eat or handle cut raw tomatoes, but I haven't ever had a reaction to cooked tomato, nor aubergine or peppers (raw or cooked). I became sensitive to potatoes in my 20s - although if they are cooked at a high temperature eg deep fried as chips, I could get away with them about once a month if I wanted to. I am however currently avoiding all nightshades anyway. I have a latex allergy (or at least it manifests as that - I used to use liquid latex at work and have never had a problem with it, but balloons, rubber gloves and whoopee cushions give me a dreadful rash! oddly I am allergic to wetsuits too, even though they are synthetic rubber - so I wonder if a latex allergy is the whole picture)

My understanding is that the potato issue is related to the latex one as they contain similar proteins. Some people with latex allergies also have problems with Avocado, Banana, Chestnut, Kiwi - but I don't seem to have an issue with those (so far!) although I do seem to have a natural aversion to avocado, chestnuts and to some extent kiwi, I do usually eat a banana every day. I did try cutting bananas out for a few months, but it was an experiment that yielded no results at all.
