Hi all,

How high or Low the TSH level is considered hypothyroid and hyperthyroid where bodies starts to feel symptoms ?

Some people tends to have just a little off higher or lower and doctor would say it is alright. So on what levels in the blood test would consider high and treatment will be started by the doctor ?

The answer depends both on you and the doctor. You are an individual with individual ways of expressing thyroid health and individual ways of responding to illness. Its not possible to give definite answers. Roughly speaking TSH above 4 should strongly suggest hypo, but for a few people that might not be so. For others 3 might suggest hypo possibility. At the other end, a value below 0.5 would indicate possibility of hyperthyroidism, but that would have to be accompanied by high FT4 (above say 24) and high FT3 say above 8. But this doesn't mean that all doctors would respond - some have wider ranges than others before they consider treatment - eg TSH up to 10. Again, when you are treated the whole thing changes, and what was true in health doesn't apply to treatment, especially TSH.
