All of the symptoms seem to make a lot of sense and are very familiar but I am constantly thirsty and have a awful metal taste in my mouth as well please any help as to a way forward would be most appreciated. A month ago for no apparent reason I put on one stone in a week there was no change in my diet so I don't understand please help !!!

What does your GP think of your symptoms? What investigations and tests have been done? I'm assuming you've been evaluated for diabetes (one of the commonest reasons for that level of thirst)?

Book an appointment with your GP urgently and describe the symptoms you have described here. Your Doctor needs to run blood tests for diabetes. In the meantime if you suddenly feel unwell, visit A&E.

So did the GP do tests for diabetes and other things?

If you’ve gained a stone in a week that sounds like water retention. Along with your thirst it suggests you might Hv a renal problem. Your gp at a minimum needs to dip stix your urine to make sure you’re not losing protein in your urine. This is itself would cause water retention. You also need a kidney blood test called a U&E which checks electrolytes and renal blood flow. If either are abnormal you need an urgent referral to a renal physician (kidney specialist).

Sounds like diabetes, ask for a blood test for this and hypothyroidism. Have you looked at this symptom checker for thyroid trouble? If not, have a look and see how many you have thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... but I would definitely push for diabetes test! Good luck, let us know how you get on
