Hi has anyobe tried regain? My sister in law was advised by specialist to use it and she swears by it. However she was advised to use regain for men, not women. My hair loss has been awful lately. The problem is I am on metformin, Levo and inhalers for asthma and I don't know f t will cause reactions.
Thank you so much for advice in advance 🙏🏽

Rogaine is used topically on the scalp and rubbed by hand to make it penetrate into the scalp. It could help some. However, it can cause scalp irritation and once you stop it, the hair will fall again. Expensive option to temporarily address the issue and could cause irritation to the skin on your hands and on your scalp.
People with hypothyroidism have to have optimal levels of T3 for the hair to stop falling along with optimal blood levels of iron, B3, B6, B12 (metformin depletes the body of b12), vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, and selenium.
No I have no recent bloods to share. However I do not use zinc or magnesium supplements.. please can you tell me amounts of these as I don't want to overdo it. Thank you
You can safely take 15 mg of Zinc a day and the daily requirement of Magnesium is 300 mg/day.
There are several kinds of magnesium compound that are sold as supplements. Look for magnesium bis-glycinate, highly absorbed, or magnesium citrate which has laxative properties.
You can take supplements and can also have a bath with some Epsom salt in it.
I use Philip Kingsley scalp stimulator and scalp tonic as well as his shampoo and conditioner. I don’t see as much hair in the plug hole anymore and it make my scalp less itchy.
I've been using Plantur 39 shampoo, conditioner and lotion and I don't think I'm finding as much hair going down the plughole when I wash my hair. I think it only works as long as you keep using it.
I'd say you need to follow researcher's advice and make sure all your sisters vitamins and minerals are optimal. I've got Graves, I was very hyper, became very hypo during my treatment and my hair fell out in handfuls. Once my levels became optimal my hair stopped falling out. Good luck, I found losing my hair very upsetting indeed.
"But, levothyroxine can cause another type of hair loss. It increases the level of a hormone called 5-alpha reductase which then combines with testosterone (women have this as well as men) to produce a derivative called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is responsible for male pattern baldness."
My hair has been coming out crazy for last 2 months ..it's very alarming and worrying and getting thinner by the day ...turns out I was overmedicated. . my t3 being over range!Too little but also too much medication can cause it ...but for me personally I only get it with levels that are too high!
I have a noticeable hair loss as well. I've tried Rogaine it did not work for me, I've used Finasteride pills to try to stop hair loss (also works on DHT) - nothing was working for me!
Last four months, I've started supplementing with Selenium, Magnesium, B12, B complex, Vit D, and Iron+Folate and I've noticed new hair growth. Please check your mineral and vitamin levels.
Also, lately I've started using onion juice and castor oil mix (2:1) weekly - doesn't smell good but the sulfur in onion is supposed to feed follicles and stimulate hair growth.
iron ferritin is a biggy with hair loss, organic hydrolyzed collagen peptides may also help with type 1 and 3 collagen...according to hair dressers, b12 is another biggy and your free t3 levels
