I had half my thyroid removed on Fri 6th oct. The drain was activated late as no one realised it wasn't on. I am having a stinging sensation above my scar that is swelling and I was wondering if maybe I'm brewing an infection. I get my stitches out this Friday. Little worried...

Thyroid surgery
Your scar still looks very raw, and I agree it looks very red and swollen.
If you are brewing an infection (which seems very possible) then you need antibiotics ASAP. Get in touch with the hospital department that did your surgery, remind them about the drain issue, tell them how it looks now, and ask to be seen immediately. If they won't help, kick up a stink.
If they still aren't helpful, then you have a choice - see a GP this afternoon as an emergency, or go to A&E. I don't know, under the circumstances, which would be preferable. Personally, I'd be inclined to go to A&E, if the A&E was in the same hospital the surgery was done in.
I agree w/human bean. Actually took the very words I thought of😆
You are so very sweet in your post Joburkie , I do hope there isn’t anything brewing & your recovery is smooth. I’d like to add, keep eating vitamin C foods as VitC helps fight all sorts of things. Oranges aren’t the only ones ... red pepper, chestnuts too! Many hugs 🤗
Whip up a smoothie!
