Wanted to pick all topics, but, children, especially in those adolesent years, especially females, although rates of young men are actually increasing, but at lesser rates, EATING DISORDERS, DOES NOT MATTER IF BULIMILA OR ANOREXIA OR MIXTURE OF BOTH. A period of tme of this, literally screws up the thyroid, the operator or director of essential hormones, secreate and sends out signals to secrete or perform other essential biological necessities of the human body. A pattern of this, not just a one time, sets individuals up for Thyroid dysfunction, of some type. during the active pathology phase or later in life. Potentially, I have seen recovered eating disordered individuals, and infertility was the tragedy of this couple. Well, patient did not disclose history of her eating pathology, and her gerneral practitioner has never evaluated her thyroid. Note for record, usually when thyroid evaluated, only screening test, TSH, is completed, and can result perfect and individuals thyroid can be, FRIED.

Finally a medical professional in their family, insisted on extensive thyroid status with serum testing but that the perspective mother tell the fertility physician and others concerned, about her long history of ED pathology, and never had more than a screening TSH, non-specific testing completed.

PEOPLE, PLEASE, PLEASE, IN CERTAIN SITUATION, TSH IS NOT ENOUGH; consider TSH, Total T3 and Total T4, Free T4, and what others you and your provider consider essential.

Thanks for posting. Free T3 is another important test as well as antibodies. If antibodies are present regardless of the above tests, levothyroxine should be prescribed. I shall give a link for the reason for FT3.
