Hi

Thanks for letting me join

Looking to get NDT since levo on its own and levo and T3 didn't seem to improve all symptoms. Where can I go to get this? Diagnosed 2012 with hypothyroid.

Thankyou

(175mcg levo)

TSH 2.50 (0.2 - 4.2)

Free T4 17.2 (12 - 22)

Free T3 3.3 (3.1 - 6.8)

If these are your current test results you are under medicated. Have you tried increasing dose to 200mcg?

TSH should be lower, around or slightly under one for most patients on Levo to feel well.

FT4 can be near top of range (around 20)

FT3 is too low

Was this blood test done early as possible in morning and fasting and no Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, (delay and take straight after).

Do you also have high thyroid antibodies? You need to know. Did GP test these? If not ask that they are tested.

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known as autoimmune thyroid disease). About 90% of hypothyroidism in UK is due to Hashimoto's.

Hashimoto's very often affects the gut, leading to low stomach acid, low vitamin levels and leaky gut.

Low vitamins that affect thyroid are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. Important to test these.

If these vitamins are too low they stop Thyroid hormones working.

Have these been tested, if not ask that they are. Always get actual results and ranges.

As you have Hashimoto's then hidden food intolerances may be causing issues, most common by far is gluten. Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms. Very, very many of us here find it really helps and can slowly lower antibodies.

Hi thankyou I increased to 200mcg levothyroxine before and my TSH went to 1.60 (0.2 - 4.2) Free T4 16.2 (12 - 22) Free T3 3.5 (3.1 - 6.8) The blood test was done early as possible in morning and fasting and I took no levothyroxine in the 24 hours before bloods

Thyroid antibodies are Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies 303.5 (<34) and Thyroglobulin antibodies 478.3 (<115) and have had vitamins and minerals tested, I do supplement but feel no different on what I take.

The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower with a Free T4 and Free T3 towards the upper part of the range, so you are undermedicated as stated by SlowDragon has stated. With such a low FT3 you cannot feel well.

Going Gluten-free can help reduce antibodies, these attack your thyroid gland until you are hypo but the treatment is the same.

Not what you're looking for?
